Whamisa Organic Flowers Damask Rose Petal Mist Review

Wednesday 18 October 2017

I've never been a fan of rose products but adding one product with rose petals in it changed my skin care and my interests in beauty completely. You might think that face mists are useless but in fact, they add more moisture and in the summer they can help balance the skin temperature as well. Whamisa Organic Flowers Damask Rose Petal Mist is my second face mist made by this brand. What's so unique about it - the unique composition of ingredients and rose petals.

I would never buy this mist if it wasn't Instagram and facebook groups - I bought this mist almost the same day as Whamisa was released in Poland. I just had to buy it and from this time I was using Olive Mist almost every day, when it ended I felt sad a little bit but still, I've got the rose mist which might look more attractive than the Olive Face Mist (you can read the review here). The previous one has very good ingredients. Let's check the ingredients and compare both versions.

*Aloe Maculata Leaf Extract (94,42%) -  also known as soap aloe and it's an African plant. I had problems with this extract because according to EWG it might be cancerous, but on the other sources, there were no data if it really is or not. According to EWG, the main problem is the natural pigment in Aloe Maculata and it can be cancerous if we use a non-decolourised ingredient. Rosa Damascena Flower - also called Bulgarian Rose, this ingredient is used for all skin types - from dry to oily and acne-prone. This time it's all about petals - they look very attractive but petals give scent and moisture to this product too. Caulerpa Lentillifera Extract - also known as Sea Grape Extract or Green Caviar. A source of Vitamin C and Vitamin E. It’s an antioxidant and moisturiser with strong antibacterial properties. *Alcohol (0,5%) - a preservative, it has to prevent a product from bacteria and from going bad. It can help other substances transport to deeper layers of the skin. It might be comedogenic and sensitive skin might react to this ingredient. *Rosa Damascena Flower Extract - also called Bulgarian Rose, this ingredient is used for all skin types - from dry to oily and acne-prone. It doesn’t only help with irritated skin but because of its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, it can be used to heal wounds or sunburns as well as it can help with broken blood vessels, wrinkles and acne. It’s a good moisturiser with an amazing scent. *Helichrysum Arenarium (Everlasting) Flower Extract - an antioxidant that works on acne prone skin. It can help with broken blood vessels, redness, acne, cellulite, scars and irritated skin. It balances sebum production and it can help with enlarged pores. It can increase skin elasticity. You can use it as a soothing ingredient under your eyes. *Lactobacillus/Chrysanthemum Sinense Flower Ferment Filtrate*Lactobacillus/Nelumbium Speciosum Flower ferment Filtrate and *Lactobacillus/Dandelion Leaf/Root Extract Ferment Filtrate are ferments, it is told that ferments are good moisturisers, they can help with skin ageing as well.
Bellis Perennis (Daisy) Flower Extract - an antioxidant with antibacterial and antiseptic properties. It speeds up the healing process and it has a positive effect on the acne-prone skin with redness and broken blood vessels.  Magnolia Kobus Flower Extract - also known as Mokryeon, Kobus Magnolia and Kobushi Magnolia. Magnolia was used in traditional medicines as a treatment for allergy and anxiety. Now it is used as an antioxidant with anti-inflammatory properties. Lilium Tigrinum Extract - also known as Tiger Lily extract or Asian Lily extract. This extract is used to brighten the full skin.

Iris Versicolor Extract - an antiseptic extract that gives moisture. It can help with broken blood vessels and irritation. Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract - also known as German Chamomile and Bee Chamomile. This extract has antiseptic properties. Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract - also known as Pot Marigold, an antioxidant with antibacterial and antiseptic properties. It can help with acne, rash, inflammation and abrasions. It might help with wrinkles as well. If the concentration is too high then it might be comedogenic. If you’ve got salicylate sensitivity/allergy then be careful with this ingredient. Rosa Rugosa Flower Extract - also known as Mei Gui Hua in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It’s an antioxidant with anti-inflammatory properties. *Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice - a humectant that works for all skin types. It’s a good moisturiser because aloe contains almost 99% of water. It can help with rash, sunburns, acne or with wounds. It balances sebum production but it also helps with hair and dandruff. Kids and women during the pregnancy should be careful with this ingredient - use small amounts. If you’ve got salicylate sensitivity/allergy then you have to be careful with it. Hibiscus Sabdariffa Flower Extract - a source of vitamin C. An antioxidant with a positive impact on broken blood vessels, it can help with redness but mostly it is used for its moisturising properties. **Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract - an anti-inflammatory ingredient that helps with allergies. It’s also an anti-aging ingredient. **Paeonia Suffruticosa Root Extract - called Mu Dan Pi in Traditional Chinese Medicine, this extract is used for skin brightening, it is told that this extract can have anti-inflammatory properties. It helps with blood circulation. **Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract Licorice - it’s an antioxidant and natural ingredient with anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory properties. It helps with wounds healing, redness, inflammation, acne and pigmentation. It works very well on acne-prone and oily skin. ***Propanediol - a solvent and a moisturiser. Natto Gum - it's a fermented soy and it's a moisturiser. If you have a soy allergy then I've got a good information - you shouldn't react to natto - there are medical records saying that so you can always find this information. Xanthan Gum - also known as E415, a safe stabiliser and thickener. Cyamopsis Tetragonoloba (Guar) Gum - natural thickener. Geranium Maculatum (Spotted Cranesbill) Oil - a natural oil used for its smell in the products but it can also help with irritated skin. Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil - it’s an essential oil that gives scent but it also has antiseptic and antibacterial properties. Rosa Damascena Flower Oil - also called Bulgarian Rose, it’s an oil with antiseptic and antibacterial oil. It gives scent and it can help a little bit with acne-prone skin.
(*Certified Organically Grown, **Natural Preservative, ***Natural Origin)

What's different in both versions? In Rose version, we won't find any substance related to Olive, Rhodiola or Centella. But they both contain Aloe and Alcohol which I do not really like but I can accept it because I can't smell it and it's not the first or second ingredient. Rose version is recommended for normal and dry skin types and I can feel it. It seems to me that Rose version is wetter, it gives me more moisture so instead of using it as a face mist I've decided to use it as a toner. I think that this version should work for people who have problem with blood vessels because I can clearly see here some ingredients that work on redness and blood circulation but if you've got sensitive skin it's good to remember that natural substances can make your skin irritated even more - we can't predict in 100% how the skin will react to the ingredient. For me, the biggest plus of this product is natto gum - I'm allergic and somehow natto gum helps me with skin reactions.

As you can see the ingredients are quite natural - lots of natural extracts and ferments. Whamisa is a brand known for fermented and organic ingredients, it's probably the only Korean brand with both BDIH and EWG certificates. I feel very positive about this brand but not every person will be happy with this product. For some of you the most important thing is how the product works with makeup - I've tried this mist with makeup and it's a very hydrating mist which you can easily use as a base for makeup or you can spray it over the makeup but I feel like it's more sticky or wet than Olive version. For dry skin, it'll be great but for oily skin - it might be problematic.

Overall, I feel very positive about this mist not only because it looks so cool - I can see nice ingredients that can really work on my skin but will I buy it again? I'll probably go back to the Olive version which fits my combination skin way more better - for winter Rose version can be more effective (even if right now I feel like I'm living in a rainforest - literally it's strange that I do not have curly hair like all my friends now). You can find this product on Glowrecipe (38$/80ml), Honeysu (32.90$/80ml) and Azjatycki Dom Piękna (129zł/80ml).

Let me know how do you like this mist and what's your favourite face mist or maybe you think that face mists are useless?

As I said on Facebook, I won't add polish translation from now on - it takes me a lot of time, there were some mistakes in a code and some browsers wasn't able to open the translation. The other problem is that I have to focus on job as well as on my studies. I hope that you can understand the reason why I've decided to write this blog only in English, soon I'll add translate button to the website so I hope it'll help even a little bit :)
