AHC The Pure Real Eye Cream For Face

Dark circles, fine lines, eye bags, puffy eyes and milia are the most common eye care issues we try to fight with every day. The skin around our eyes is delicate and thin, it has fewer oil glands and needs special care. No matter if you're 16 or 61 there's still time to start focusing on the eye area. I've selected eye care tips and products for eye problems we have to deal each day based on my skincare and esthetician practice.

You're not alone with dark circles

People I know usually considered me as a lucky one, I had no problems with dark circles, no eye bags. I have a natural line which we all have because some "fine lines" on our body are here since we were born and skin texture isn't soft. Unfortunately, life isn't that awesome. I might not have too many problems with dark circles but I've got a huge problem with milia. Some skin problems are all about genetics or age. It's not like I have no problems with dark circles at all, when I use an eye cream that contains ingredients I'm allergic to or if I get not enough sleep then I have to deal with them too. No matter if it's genetics or another factor we can always do something about it.

Eyecare vs health

But eye care is not only about skin but also vision. I never thought about this until my cousin came to me and told me that I should wear lenses because the fact that I've got a bad sight is visible by squinting and it also can be a cause of fine lines. So let's focus on that as well. A vision test is important, especially if you work in front of the computer. With age, our eyes are getting worse too. A healthy diet and regular check-ups can help a lot. I encourage you to eat fish and veggies full of vitamins A, E, C, D. If you work in front of a computer or you live in a big city eye drops are a must. I wear lenses and believe me I had lots of storage situations with lenses and eyes at work - back when I was working almost every day I had to take job leave for couple hours to visit a hospital because I had broken blood vessels in my eyes or I tried some new lenses and they literally fell off my eye and I felt like it's still here but I can't remove it. Something I didn't do but you should - if you have bad sight then buy glasses since you won't always be able to wear lenses - during the allergy season, it's sometimes impossible to put lenses. I still haven't tried the coloured contact lenses even if I want to but the ones I use are Bauch & Lomb - Pure Vision (normal or 2), Softlens and Biotrue. I usually go for monthly lenses since the application is easier but if I need one-day lenses then Biotrue is the best. Daily lenses are softer and that makes them tricky to apply.

Puffy eyes

Usually, when I meet people with puffy eyes and eye bags the cause behind this problem is ageing, lack of sleep and allergy but it might be a medical condition too. What I was told to use for puffy eyes since I was a child - a cold spoon. I swear cold spoon was a remedy for all your swelling problems back then. Nowadays you can find gel pads which you can put in the fridge and once you're done use antiseptic and put it back to the fridge but there are also hydrogel pads but these are not reusable. Cotton bads soaked in cold green tea or chamomile tea are also a good idea but I would recommend products based caffeine. One of the reasons why DIY green tea pads work is caffeine

Dark circles

I call this one disease of every student - dark circles - you spend the entire night to catch up before an exam and you end up with dark circles because you didn't get enough sleep. Sleep is important not only for your eyes but also mind. People say that eyes are the mirrors of our souls, then eye areas are a database of our lifestyle and health. Sometimes dark circles are a common thing in our families but when I meet younger people the main cause is a lifestyle - drinking and partying with lack of sleep can end up with dark circles. Once in my life, I have a huge problem with dark circles and the cause was... Allergy. I used Be Organic eye serum recommended by a pharmacist and I woke up with dark circles. What was the cause? Macadamia oil. I usually don't have such bad reactions to cosmetics but I didn't expect to end up with dark circles thanks to allergy. The causes of dark circles can be more complicated - it might be related to some diseases you're going through, it can be even linked to anaemia and sun exposure but sometimes it's a problem we meet with age. What we can do about them? First of all, get your 8 hours of sleep and drink some water, tiredness and dehydration won't help you achieve the results. You can use the similar solution as with puffy eyes - cold spoons, cold hydrogel patches, green tea and chamomile but I would also add one more thing which we should remember to do each day - eye massage.

Fine lines

Usually, when people try to focus on fine lines and wrinkles they keep forgetting about eye area, neck and hands. The eye area is more prone to fine lines than your forehead. The eye area skin is thinner and it has fewer oil glands and with age activity of oil, glands keep decreasing. We have to remember that eye movements aren't smooth and still but rapid and quick. We can't stop this process but with good eye care, we can make this area look and feel better. Before you think about fillers try eye massage, and treatments with retinol, peptides and Hyaluronic Acid. There are some beauty treatments like muscle stimulation, fillers and botox but if you want to try them start with muscle stimulation even if in some cases it might not be possible (having metal in your face and teeth can be a problem). The key of this area is sunscreen, if you don't want to use sunscreen since not every sunscreen is recommended for the eye area (see recommendations below) you might want to use sunglasses to protect your eyes and sight. By the way, oily skin doesn't have to as many problems with fine lines as dry skin.

Milia

Tiny cysts that look like tiny pears trapped under the skin mostly in the eye area. They are hard to remove but not impossible. Similar to other eye care problems, milia can be caused by sun, genetics, different diseases or any skin damage, too heavy moisturizers or lack of exfoliation. The eye area is hard to exfoliate since at least I've never seen an exfoliator which you can use straight under the lash line or eyelid, usually, you can use a bit below your eyes - carefully - and where the crow's feet are forming but still you have to be careful. Milia should be removed by professionals but what you can do is use a sunscreen, use products with retinol, exfoliation but only in the area where its possible (you can't use exfoliant on the eyelid! remember eye area is sensitive) and using eye cream that is recommended for your skin type and problems aka don't use heavy moisturizers when it's not needed, they won't make your fine lines go away but they can help you develop other problems like milia.

Eyecare Eye Massage

Massage

Why massage is so recommended? It helps with blood circulation. There are many different eye care massage techniques but I'll share with you techniques I use. We always start with eye cream, oil or serum application. Simply tap with your ring finger the eyes cream, why we use this finger? It won't give the skin too much pressure. Once we applied the cream take 3 fingers (index, middle and ring) and slide them from the inner corner of the eyebrow to outer corner of the eyebrow. Stop for a second and go from the outer corner of your eye to the inner corner with only a ring finger. This might be hard but once you learn to change the finger it'll go smooth without taking breaks. Repeat 5 to 10 times. Once you do that you can do the same movement but with only a ring finger. Instead of doing straight motion try circulation - it feels like drawing circles around the eyes. Repeat 5 to 10 times.
Now take middle and ring fingers (or index and middle fingers) to the outer corner of the eye and make V with those two fingers. Put them in the area where you see dots on an illustration and between them start with drawing a line from the outer corner of your eye to the hairline with the index finger, do a lifting motion, it shouldn't go staring up but list the finger up a tiny bit. Repeat 5 times. Once you're done try drawing circles with the index finger at the outer corner. Repeat 5 times. Once you're done try doing "piano" move around your eyes - tap the skin from the inner corner of your eyebrow to the outer corner then to the inner corner of your eyes up to 3 times.

There's a huge number of videos about eye massage, I link the Sulwhasoo one since it's quite nice, this one is based on a massage tool but the way the massage is shown is nice. But what if we want to use tools?

Foreo Iris

I haven't try Foreo Iris but it's one of the eye massagers I've seen online besides Philips eye massager. Why I didn't want to mention Philips is because I have an issue with their cleansing brush and microdermabrasion tool and I don't know if it's worth to recommend Philips eye massager but I've tried Foreo Luna so I kinda know the T-Sonic technology used in Iris, if you have money and you think about eye massager - maybe Foreo is worth a shot but if you're not sure then let me tell you how I use other Foreo product for eye care.

Foreo Luna Fofo Cleansing Brush

Foreo Luna

Can cleansing brush be used as a massage tool? Why not? All you need to remember is to use the soft part and just stick it to the place you want to massage your face. Not the most comfortable to use but T-sonic technology is a safe technology which we can treat as a basic exercise for the eye area.

Beauty rollers

Some people use beauty rollers for the eye area, I do my eye massage with hands and Foreo. There are many different types of rollers but the one with the ball is the most useful if it comes to the eye area.

Makeup

Colour correction is simple and we can consider it as a makeup basic technique since it's easy to remember and can change your skin completely. The under-eye area usually calls for yellow to red shades but to know how it works we need to look at the skin. If you've got purple skin changes around eyes or small veins visible through the skin then go for yellow concealer. Dark circles can be covered by orange or red concealer under a foundation or concealer in the colour if the skin.

Products

Finally, it's time to recommend you some eyecare products I've tried but also share with you products that made me interested in them and why.

I guess this is one of the most popular reviews on my blog - AHC The Real Pure Eye Cream for Face. It's an eye cream which you can use on the entire skin too - especially fine lines. A.H.C eye creams are probably the most popular K-beauty Eye Creams - from the release date brand has sold over 50 million of eye cream. The version I got was made in collaboration with Marymond but even standard versions of AHC eye creams look spectacular. The magic of this eye cream is in peptides and unique formula.

I guess Ageless version of Eye Cream For Face is the newest available version of cult eye cream by AHC. The thing that makes Ageless version special is Biomimic Collagen. Collagen is too big to get through the skin that's why it works the best as a film, this way pores and fine lines will be less visible. I'm using the 2nd tube of this cream, I can't deny Pure version is my favourite but this one is good for young skin, mature skin might prefer other versions.

Innisfree Orchid Eye Cream

Innisfree Orchid Eye Cream

Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Squalane, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Arbutin, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Cyclopentasiloxane, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Glyceryl Stearate, Cyclohexasiloxane, Orchid Oil, Caffeine, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Camellia Japonica Leaf Extract, Opuntia Coccinellifera Fruit Extract, Citrus Unshiu Peel Extract, Adenosine, C12-20 Alkyl Glucoside, C14-22 Alcohols, Glyceryl Caprylate, Lauric Acid, Myristic Acid, Behenyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Stearic Acid, Arachidyl Glucoside, Arachidyl Alcohol, Xanthan Gum, Palmitic Acid, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, Polysorbate 20, Polyacrylate-13, Polyisobutene, Propanediol, PEG-100 Stearate, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance
I guess this one was my first Korean eye cream which I love but I'm aware there are two different versions - the one I tested and repair version which will work better for mature skin. The main reason why I recommend it is Squalane, Adenosine and Arbutin. 3 ingredients I like, especially Arbutin which is quite common in eye creams.

The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG

Water, Caffeine, Propanediol, Maltodextrin, Glycerin, Epigallocatechin Gallatyl Glucoside, Gallyl Glucoside, Hyaluronic Acid, Oxidized Glutathione, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Seed Extract, Polypodium Vulgare Rhizome Extract, Cetraria Islandica Thallus Extract, Sphagnum Magellanicum Extract, Urea, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6, Xanthan Gum, Lactic Acid, Citric Acid, Dehydroacetic Acid, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Propyl Gallate, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Ethoxydiglycol, Benzyl Alcohol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol
Probably the most affordable eye product I will recommend you. Caffeine is ideal for dark circles while EGCG aka Epigallocatechin Gallate is found in tea. It's a liquid serum, kinda like a serum, kinda like water. Good for eye massage. It's a serum which I'll recommend for both young and mature skin.

Benton Fermentation Eye Cream

Benton Fermentation Eye Cream

Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate, Aqua (Water), Butylene Glycol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Pentylene Glycol, Macadamia Integrifolia Seed Oil, Cetearyl Olivate, Bifida Ferment Lysate, Ceramide NP, Althaea Rosea Root Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Sorbitan Olivate, Sorbitan Stearate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Allantoin, Betaine, Beta-Glucan, Panthenol, sh-Oligopeptide-1, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Arginine,1,2-Hexanediol, Pulsatilla Koreana Extract, Zanthoxylum Piperitum Fruit Extract, Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Adenosine, Polysorbate 20, Lecithin
Another cult eye cream. This one is based on Galactomyces, a product of fermentation and antioxidant. Bifida - another product of fermentation, Ceramide and peptides. I haven't tried this one yet but I've heard some positive reviews, still, I believe this eye cream will work better for younger skin.

Gaston Shooting Star Hydrogel Eye Patch

Gaston Shooting Star Hydrogel Eye Patch

Water, Glycerin, Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan), Betaine, Allantoin, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Seed Powder, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Extract, Piper Nigrum (Pepper) Seed Extract, Morus Alba Fruit Extract, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Extract, Cinnamomum Cassia Bark Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Maltodextrin, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Euterpe Oleracea Fruit Extract, Methylpropanediol, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Extract, Pinus Sylvestris Leaf Extract, Propanediol, Pentylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol, Ceratonia Siliqua Gum, Sucrose, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Potassium Chloride, Calcium Chloride, Titanium Dioxide, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Calcium Lactate, Cyamopsis Tetragonoloba (Guar) Gum, Cellulose Gum, Aluminum, Polyurethane-11, Carbon Black, Polyethylene Terephthalate, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Ethyl Hexanediol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Disodium EDTA, Chlorphenesin, Fragrance
These pads are soothing and nourishing and I agree with it. They are bit bigger than usual eye pads and the texture looks amazing - it works with the whole "space" idea behind the product. Bigger eye pads can cover bigger space, the pads are slipping a bit from my face but the size is ideal (my cheeks are covered). So if you have small faces then the patches will cover cheeks as well. I consider this as pads after a hard day/when your eyes are puffy.

Gaston Star Crystal Hydrogel Eye Patch

Gaston Star Crystal Hydrogel Eye Patch

Water, Glycerin, Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan), Betaine, Allantoin, Niacinamide, Calcium Pantothenate, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Pyridoxine HCl, Maltodextrin, Silica, Sodium Starch Octenylsuccinate, Hyacinthus Orientalis (Hyacinth) Flower Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Extract, Pinus Sylvestris Leaf Extract, Propanediol, Pentylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol, Ceratonia Siliqua Gum, Sucrose, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Potassium Chloride, Calcium Chloride, Calcium Lactate, Cyamopsis Tetragonoloba (Guar) Gum, Cellulose Gum, Aluminum Powder, Titanium Dioxide, Polyurethane-11, Carbon Black, Polyethylene Terephthalate, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Ethyl Hexanediol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Disodium EDTA, Chlorphenesin, Fragrance
A moisturizing and brightening version of Gaston's eye patch. Similar to Shooting Star Hydrogel Eye Patch they are huge and have an interesting texture. The whole concept of the brand is great. I feel like this version is more advanced and does more than black pads.

Skin79 Golden Snail Intensive Essence Gel Eye Patch

Skin79 Golden Snail Intensive Essence Gel Eye Patch

I can't hide that I'm not a fan of Skin79 and I feel like these pads are overpriced but they contain Snail Mucin, Niacinamide, Adenosine, Gold, Ginseng and Witch Hazel and this mix might be a good addition to your current eye care.

Pixi DetoxifEYE

Aqua/Water/Eau, Glycerin, Carrageenan, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Extract, Pinus Sylvestris Leaf Extract, Caffeine, Gold (CI 77480), Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Fruit Extract, Rubus Coreanus Fruit Extract, Vaccinium Angustifolium (Blueberry) Fruit Extract, Ribes Nigrum (Black Currant) Leaf Extract, Euterpe Oleracea Fruit Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Camellia Japonica Flower Extract, Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Sodium Hyaluronate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Cellulose Gum, Cyamopsis Tetragonoloba (Guar) Gum, Allantoin, Calcium Chloride, Propanediol, Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, Niacinamide, Calcium Lactate, Potassium Chloride, Ceratonia Siliqua (Carob) Gum, Maltodextrin, Sucrose, Mica, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Tin Oxide, CI 77491, Titanium Dioxide, Arginine, Butylene Glycol, Pentylene Glycol, Ethyl Hexanediol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Chlorphenesin, Disodium EDTA.
Pixi released patches that are made in Korea which is nothing new. Cucumber is the main star here - it is a home remedy and I know that women put cucumber slices on eyes. I haven't tried them yet but they have a very neutral scent. They won't be a good help in anti-ageing but if you keep them in your fridge then they might be helpful in terms of depuffing. There's also FortifEYE version.

Eyenlip Hydrogel Eye Patch Salmon Oil & Peptide

Eyenlip Hydrogel Eye Patch Salmon Oil & Peptide

Water, Glycerin, Agar, Hydroxyethyl Urea, Xanthan Gum, Ceratonia Siliqua (Carob) Gum, Butylene Glycol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Carrageenan, Carbomer, Allantoin, Methylparaben, Sucrose, Disodium EDTA, Mica, CI 77492, Titanium Dioxide, Fragrance, Salmon Oil (100ppm), CI 77491, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Ceramide NP, 1,2-Hexanediol, Polysorbate 20, Phenoxyethanol, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 (110 ppb), Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5 (110 ppb), Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7 (105 ppd), Palmitoyl Dipeptide-7 (100 ppb), Palmitoyl Hexapeptide-12 (100 ppd), Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 (50 ppb), Copper Tripeptide-1 (50ppb), Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4 (10 ppd)
Yes, salmon in skincare seems to be an abstract idea but when you add peptides you can get the quite an interesting product. These are probably the most affordable patches of all the ones I share with you. The idea of using the product with Salmon Oil felt a bit like a barrier for me but once you get through this barrier you get an additional treatment ideal for summer.

Recommendations for eye care

There are some products which I've tried in a sample or mini version and some products that made me interested which I can't share the reviews (even short ones) but I want to mention them. Estee Lauder has a great eye care line Advanced Night Repair Eye Supercharged Complex ($62) is a powerful moisturizer but I prefer Estee Lauder's Advanced Night Repair Eye Concentrate Matrix ($69) since the formula is a bit different. I'm not a fan of Belif Moisturizers but Moisturizing Eye Bomb ($48) is a product which I like to keep in my bag so I can always apply it after the treatment instead of using a random moisturizer. Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream to Brighten and Depuff ($32) is a quite popular product so I might try it one day but I'm not sure, still, I believe Origins makes good products that are worth giving a try. I'm not a fan of Laneige Eye Sleeping Mask ($34) formula but the applicator Laneige made is genius! Kao Megrhythm Warming Steam Eye Mask (over $10 for the set) is a Japanese product, some people recommended me this treatment for flights but also stress - the warming feeling is funny but it's not a treatment for you if you've got claustrophobia. I've tried an old version of Innisfree Wrinkle Science Eye Cream (over $22) and I was surprised how good it is, even better than Orchid one but I only tried it in a sample option so I'm not sure how it works in a long run + the new version has bit different formulation. Murad Retinol Youth Renewal Eye Serum costs quite a lot (over $80) but it contains the key to nice eye area ingredient - retinol. Sulwhasoo Timetreasure Renovating Eye Serum (over $180) and Sulwhasoo Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Eye Cream EX (over $120) are very expensive but I don't know anyone saying bad stuff about them.

Krave Beauty Beet The Sun

Sunscreen for eyes

Finding ideal sunscreen for the eye area can be tricky.  Unfortunately, my recommendations are quick - one and only Krave Beauty Beet The Sun sunscreen. It's my number 1 if it comes to eye care. Usually, sunscreens don't go along with eyes, there are some targetted sunscreens like Shiseido but they usually cost a lot.

Sunglasses

If you don't wear sunscreen you can always use sunglasses to protect the eye area but I believe sunglasses are not as good as sunscreen.

That was such a long post. I hope that after this post you'll find the ideal eye cream for you. What's your favourite eye cream? Which product do you want to try?
