Lipstick Sets: Marc Jacobs & The History Of Whoo

I’m not really a lipstick person, I don’t know which colours are good for me, because I’m pale and I don’t wear lipsticks often, but sometimes I need to feel like a woman. That’s why I’ve decided to get two sets from different brands - the first set is Marc Jacobs’ set which I got from Sephora, another one is a lovely set from The History Of Whoo - a Korean luxury brand. In this post, I want not only focus on these items, but I also want to share with you some tips on finding ideal shade.

Marc Jacobs Up All Night Set
I wasn’t sure if I want to get this set because I don’t feel well in red lipstick, I just feel like most of the red lipsticks make my skin look so yellow. But finally, I’ve decided to make myself a little gift because there’s nothing wrong with buying gifts for yourself. I’m surprised with the fact that the whole set is vegan, according to crueltyfreekitty Marc Jacobs Beauty is a vegan brand, while all the perfumes are owned by the different brand and unfortunately, perfumes aren’t vegan. The pouch which we got here is also made from vegan leather so if you know someone who cares about animals and prefers cruelty-free cosmetics then you know what to get.

All the lipstick are miniatures of 5 Le Marc Lip Creme lipsticks - 242 No Angel (Apricot Nude), 246 Slow Burn (Creamy Nude Rose), 200 Oh Miley (Strawberry Spice), 208 Miss Scarlet (Deep Ruby) and 226 Scandal (Intense Plum).

Let’s focus on pigmentation - I’m surprised with how good the pigmentation is, the colours are really intensive and they last for more than 5 hours, it’s hard for me to say if it really lasts for 10 hours, because I usually don’t wear lipstick for longer than 6 hours, but I can easily see the difference between this brand and cheaper brands.

My favourite colours here are 242 No Angel and 246 Slow Burn - I feel very well in these colours, although 208 Miss Scarlet also goes well with my skin tone. I don’t like how 226 Scandal looks on my lips - this formula in this exact colour can’t cover my lips well, so if I want any purple/plum lipstick I’ll probably check NYX and their matte or suede collection for better coverage. 200 Oh Miley is definitely the colour for people with cool undertones, I personally don’t have problems with this shade because I’ve got neutral undertones but the colour is too vibrant, and I prefer more muted reds - even if I wear them only from time to time. I still think that my ginger hair are enough and maybe if I would dye my hair black again then this look with this exact hue would fit me well.

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to find ingredients so I won’t tell you if these lipsticks are good or not, but usually, all the lipstick you can find at shops don’t have perfect ingredients.

The History Of Whoo Gongjinhyang Mi Luxury Lipstick Miniature Set

Probably one of the cutest and fanciest set I’ve ever owned. Believe me - The History Of Whoo is like a Holy Grail for every k-beauty lover. This brand belongs to… LG - yep, I’m sure you know this brand for their smartphones or tv’s, but cosmetics? Yes, brands such as LG or Samsung are not only related to electronic devices - they are really powerful brands that work on different markets with many products. I’m not sure if it’s true but I’ve heard that Samsung has started with… sugar and now it’s a very popular brand (wow, I still remember something from my marketing & economy studies).

The History Of Whoo is quite a young brand - it was released in 2003 and it’s popular not only because their products really work, but they also have one of the most luxurious packagings I’ve ever seen. Of course, everything has its price, normally lipstick costs around $30-40, but the set was around half of this price. So it’s not the worse price, but we can only choose from 10 colours. In this set, we’ve got 2 different colours - No. 12 Pink and No.23 Orange. The colours are very classic and I was surprised when it turned out that pink it’s the same shade as my mum uses.

The pigmentation isn't as good as with the previous set, but the finishing is different - it's not matte, it’s more like pearl one. These lipsticks moisturise my lips well. It’s a safer lipstick if you are a novice - it doesn’t smudge as much and you can easily re-apply it. Both colours are pretty and good for every day, as you can see they are very different from current trends in Europe or USA - we prefer matte lipsticks in very subdued or strange colours while Korean brands show us tints and very classic, delicate and pure hues.

How to find ideal lipstick?
First of all, we have to determine our undertones. There are couple ways to determine your undertones
1. Check the colours of your veins in a daylight, cool undertones usually have purple or blue veins, warm - green or olive, while neutral undertones can have blue and green veins.
2. Take a ring or a necklace, gold and silver - which colour looks better on you? Cool undertones look better with silver jewellery, while warm undertones will look better in golf. If you’re neutral both - silver and cold will fit you,
3. Check your tan - usually, warm undertones tan easily while cool and neutral undertones burn.
4. Check your wardrobe - warm undertones will look better in bright colours such as orange, red or yellow while cool tones need more toned shades like blue or purple.

If it’s too hard to determine your undertone you’re probably neutral as me. Neutral undertones have fewer problems with finding an ideal shade because we can choose between both - cool and warm colours. Unfortunately, life isn’t that simple and we have to check couple additional things. We have not only to watch for undertones but also on our skin tone. People with fair skin won’t wear the same lipsticks for people with medium skin colour. For example, if we take 4 different girls with 4 different undertones and skin colours the nude lipstick will look different on all of them. Darker skin needs different nude lipstick than fair skin. Remember that hair colour and makeup also change everything - not all the shades will work with every hair colour and if you prefer to focus your makeup on eyes you have to find a balance in your makeup and choose more calm lipstick colour. I do not recommend wearing very pale lipstick if you’ve got pale skin - sometimes it’s better to use the tint or just smudge a little bit of darker lipstick than wear a lipstick which matches your foundation, it might just look like you’re ill. Darker skin tones should choose darker colours - even between nudes. Remember that even if shade should work for your skin you might not feel well in it - it’s a natural thing, so if one shade doesn’t feel good - try another ;)

And how do you like these sets? Which one looks better for you? Do you have your favourite lipstick shade and do you like wearing lipstick every day?

    pozdrawiam cieplutko myszko :*

  8. I definitely want to try that Marc Jacobs's because of its pigmentation <3 I wear lipstick quite often, but usually I wear tint balm or lip balm everyday because my lip is super dry and pale :(

  35. Piękne są te szminki! A kosmetyczka cudna. :)
