Blithe Soothing & Healing Green tea Mask & Innisfree Green Tea Seed serum

Are you a fan of green tea? What about adding some tea to your beauty stash? Green tea is quite a common ingredient in skincare. But why? It's a powerful antioxidant and source of nourishing substances that fits all skin types. Can we find affordable skincare products with Green Tea for all skin types?

The beginning of the tea

You would be surprised to hear that just like in Greece where lots of things come with their origins from myths, tea isn't different. Shennong is a Chinese mythical emperor. He's the father of many inventions in agriculture. Just like every legend, even origins of the tea has a various version, but there's one thing that is common for all. Shennong liked to drink boiled tea, one day a tea leaf fell into his water and turned pure water into a brown, refreshing drink. The first records of tea come from the 3rd century BCE.

Why should you choose green tea in skincare?

I believe that green tea has a positive meaning not only in skincare. I like to drink a cup of green tea or eat some matcha dessert. Green tea is an antioxidant and source of catechins, especially epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) - this ingredient has calming properties, it's especially good to treat PIE and acne-prone skin. It's one of the most researched ingredients, and all skin types can use it. It's soothing, and it helps with acne and inflammation. After all, Green tea is an antioxidant - it fights free radicals that cause DNA damage and makes our skin "mature" too early.

By Wishtrend Green Tea & Enzyme Powder Wash

By Wishtrend Green Tea & Enzyme Powder Wash

Recommended for skin types: Normal to Oily
Ingredients: Sodium Bicarbonate, Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Powder, Lysine HCL, Proline, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Acetyl Methionine, Theanine, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract, Sorbitol, Papain, Betaine, Cellulose Gum, Citric Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate

A combination of powder wash and Papain, an enzyme wash derived from Papaya. I'm a fan of both - Papain and Green Tea. I tested this powder wash when it came out, and I recommend you check it if you have oily skin. This wash is a safer option than using scrubs with tiny pieces of nuts or oats.

Neogen Real Fresh Foam Green Tea

I haven't tried this cleansing foam, even if it was (and still is!) very tempting. Sadly, this series of foam cleansers from Neogen has higher pH than my skin can accept. That's why if your skin gets more acne after using some cleansing products like this one, I would recommend choosing another cleanser from Neogen - Cica Foam Cleanser. You can find the review on Kherblog.

It's Skin Green Tea Calming Cleansing Oil

Recommended for skin types: All skin types
Ingredients: Mineral Oil, Cetyl Caprylate, PEG-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate, Polysorbate 20, Water, Fragrance, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugar Cane) Extract

It's a cheap cleansing oil with a simple formula. Some people might not enjoy the use of mineral oil and grapefruit extract. It's an emulsifying oil cleanser to remove makeup and dirt from your skin. I have to admit I might buy it next time since it's as inexpensive as Nivea's Cleansing Oils.

Benton Deep Green Tea Cleansing Foam

Recommended for skin types: Oily & Sensitive
Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Myristic Acid, Glycerin, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Water (10%), Lauric Acid, Palmitic Acid, Stearic Acid, Potassium Hydroxide, Butylene Glycol, Pentylene Glycol, Sorbitan Olivate, 1,2- Hexanediol, Polyquaternium-10, Camellia Japonica (Japanese Camellia) Seed Oil, Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate, Centella Asiatica (Centella Asiatica) Extract, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Salix Nigra (Willow) Bark Extract, Panthenol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Houttuynia Cordata (Heartleaf) Extract, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Fruit Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Seed Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Root Extract, Caprylyl Glycol, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Capric Acid, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Allantoin

I guess we all know Benton, I haven't tried this cleansing foam, but the Honest Cleansing Foam had higher pH. It made me a bit scared of trying Green Tea one. Willow Extract, Heartleaf and Green sound like the most ultimate natural blend for oily skin.

Tonymoly The Chok Chok Green Tea Intense Cream

Tonymoly The Chok Chok Green Tea Intense Cream

Recommended for skin types: Dry, Dehydrated & Sensitive skin
Ingredients: Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract (63%), Butylene Glycol, Dipropylene Glycol, Hydrogenated Poly(C6-14 Olefin)), Pentaerythrityl Tetraethylhexanoate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cetearyl Alcohol, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, C9-12 Alkane, Cetearyl Olivate, 1,2-Hexanediol, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Sorbitan Olivate, Water, Jojoba Esters, Arachidyl Alcohol, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Stearic Acid, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Sodium Polyacryloyldimethyl Taurate, Behenyl Alcohol, Dimethiconol, Trisiloxane, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Arachidyl Glucoside, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Arginine, Xanthan Gum, Disodium EDTA, Glycerin, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Camellia Sinensis Seed Oil(100Ppm), Trideceth-10, Salvia Sclarea (Clary) Oil, Ethyl Ascorbyl Ether, Tocopherol, Beta-Glucan

My best friend enjoyed this moisturizer a lot, while my experience is a bit mixed. It's a moisturizer that you can find at a budget price - especially if you search for Chok Chok sets, but in my case, I would spend more and choose something that works a bit stronger if I need lots of hydration. If you search for a gift - Chok Chok sets are a fine choice.

Innisfree Lip Sleeping Mask with Green Tea

Ingredients: Phytosteryl/Isostearyl/Cetyl/Stearyl/Behenyl Dimer Dilinoleate, Phytosteryl Isostearyl Dimer Dilinoleate, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Squalane, Hydrogenated Castor Oil Dimer Dilinoleate, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Beeswax / Cera Alba / Cire D'Abeille, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Wax, Oleic/Linoleic/Linolenic Polyglycerides, Sucrose Tetrastearate Triacetate, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Powder, Dextrin Palmitate, Glyceryl Caprylate, Camellia Sinensis Seed Oil, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Oil, Tocopherol

Laneige Lip Masks are cult favourites when it comes to lip masks. But Laneige doesn't have a green tea lip mask. Innisfree does! This brand should be your first choice if you're new to Green Tea.

Benton Deep Green Tea Serum

Recommended for skin types: Sensitive Skin
Ingredients: Camellia Sinensis Leaf Water (35,000Ppm), Aqua (Water), Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Pentylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Camellia Sinensis Root Extract, Camellia Sinensis Seed Extract, Betaine, Panthenol, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Salix Nigra (Willow) Bark Extract, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Punica Granatum Fruit Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate, Hyaluronic Acid, Biosaccharide Gum-1, Cellulose Gum, Caprylyl Glycol, Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Madecassoside, Ethylhexylglycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Tocopherol, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, Propanediol

Benton serum contains patented composition called EG-Green Tea. Even if this composition reminds me of a cleanser from the same series, I'm more likely to get this serum since the formula has many moisturizing, and calming ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid, Madecassoside and Centella Asiatica.

Innisfree Green Tea Sleeping Mask

Recommended for skin types: all skin types
Ingredients: Water/Aqua/Eau, Butylene Glycol, Propanediol, Glycerin, Dimethicone, Betaine, Trisiloxane, Hydrogenated Poly(C6-14 Olefin), 1,2-Hexanediol, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/Beheneth-25 Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Glyceryl Caprylate, Fragrance/Parfum, Trehalose, Ethylhexylglycerin, Disodium EDTA, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Lactobacillus Ferment Lysate

The formula might not be impressive since this product contains fragrance, but Green Tea + fermented ingredients sound like a perfect way to boost your microbiome.

Jayjun Green Tea Eye Gel Patch

Jayjun Green Tea Eye Gel Patch

Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Niacinamide, Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan), Potassium Chloride, Tripropylene Glycol, Dipropylene Glycol, Betaine, Sodium Hyaluronate, Paeonia Lactiflora Root Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Polygonum Multiflorum Root Extract, Phellinus Linteus Extract, Morus Alba Bark Extract, Sophora Angustifolia Root Extract, Cimicifuga Racemosa Root Extract, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Angelica Gigas Root Extract, Pentylene Glycol, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Extract, Pinus Sylvestris Leaf Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Powder(0.2%), Saururus Chinensis Extract, Ceratonia Siliqua Gum, Sucrose, Isopropyl Alcohol, Calcium Chloride, Cyamopsis Tetragonoloba (Guar) Gum, Cellulose Gum, Chondrus Crispus Powder, Allantoin, Adenosine, Disodium Edta, Calcium Lactate, Ethyl Hexanediol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Propanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Ci 77288, Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, Fragrance, Chlorphenesin

I might not be a huge fan of eye patches, but Jayjun design and texture is pure heaven. This version is supposed to be brightening and anti-aging.

Isntree Green Tea Fresh Emulsion

Recommended for skin types: Oily & Combo
Ingredients: Aqua, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Propanediol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Beeswax, Ginkgo Biloba, Centella Asiatica Extract, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Vaccinium Angustifolium Fruit Extract, Pinus Palustris Leaf Extract, Ulmus Davidiana Root Extract, Oenothera Biennis Flower (Evening Primrose) Extract, Pueraria Lobata Root Extract, Allantoin, Beta-Glucan, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Acrylates/C310-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Xanthan Gum, Tromethamine, Disodium EDTA, 1,2-Hexanediol, Hydroxyacetophenone

I feel like Isntree and Benton are two brands that give me a similar vibe of green, vegan K-beauty brands. Isntree green tea line is worth a try.

COSRX One Step Green Hero Calming Pad

Recommended for skin types: Irritated skin
Ingredients: Camellia Sinensis Leaf Water, Butylene Glycol, Taraxacum Officinale (Dandelion) Leaf Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Leaf Extract, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Extract, Artemisia Princeps Extract, 1,2-Hexanediol, Cassia Obtusifolia Seed Extract, Lactobionic Acid, Maltodextrin, Panthenol, Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, Polyglyceryl-10 Myristate, Glycerine, Arginine, Allantoin, Asiaticoside, Asiatic Acid, Madecassic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate, Gardenia Florida Fruit Extract, Limonene, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Linalool, Menthyl Lactate, Mentha Haplocalix Extract

I used the old version of these pads, and I would totally recommend it if you plan to travel and your skin might get dehydrated.

Cost: $18/70ea on Stylekorean*

COSRX and Green Tea Cream? It exists! Although I don't think this cream became as popular as Centella cream from COSRX or Ceramide cream, this formula should be great for summertime.

Neogen Dermalogy Green Tea Moist PHA Gauze Peeling

Neogen renewed its famous gauze peel pads and now we got more versions to choose from, but the Green Tea version of the pads got even better. Old ones contained PHA only, this time Neogen decided to mix Aquaxyl with AHA, BHA, LHA and PHA. Doesn't it sound fantastic?

Beauty Of Joseon Calming Serum

I tried this serum - the review is coming in few days, but the reason why I gave it a chance is the perfect mix of 76% Green tea extract and 2% Panthenol. It is a delicate formula that I was able to use while using retinol treatments.

Innisfree Derma Formula Green Tea Probiotics Cream

Recommended for skin types: All skin types
Ingredients: Water/Aqua/Eau, Butylene Glycol, Squalane, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Behenyl Alcohol, Hydroxypropyl Bispalmitamide MEA (16,000 Ppm), C14-22 Alcohols, Hydroxypropyl Bislauramide MEA (14,000 Ppm), Stearic Acid, 1,2-Hexanediol, Palmitic Acid, Cholesterol, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, C12-20 Alkyl Glucoside, Camellia Sinensis Seed Extract, Tromethamine, Glyceryl Caprylate, Dextrin, Ceramide NP (80 Ppm), Ethylhexylglycerin, Sorbitan Isostearate, Phytosphingosine, Disodium EDTA, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Myristic Acid, Arachidic Acid, Glucose, Lactobacillus Ferment Lysate(10 Ppm), Tocopherol

Innisfree Green Tea series is a cult series and I swear the majority of people started their K-beauty journey with Klairs, Innisfree or Etude House (at least if they started their journey circa 2016). Boosting the one and only green tea cream with probiotics was a wonderful idea, and I want to try it on my own!

B.LAB Matcha Hydrating Facial Toner

I see this toner a lot lately, even some of my Insta-friends are using it. The packaging and Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate in the formula gives me a positive vibe about this product.

Blithe Patting Splash Mask Soothing & Healing Green Tea

Blithe Patting Splash Mask Soothing & Healing Green Tea

Recommended for skin types: Oily & Combo skin types
Ingredients: Water, Lactic Acid, Vaccinium Myrtillus Fruit Extract, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugar Cane) Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Acer Saccharum (Sugar Maple) Extract, Panthenol, Ppg-26-Buteth-26, Peg-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, 1,2-Hexanediol, Sodium Lactate, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Gardenia Florida Fruit Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Flower Extract, Dextrin, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Salicylic Acid

A mask that you can use in your shower or formula to mix as a toner? People loved this solution, it's an instant mask that you can use as a skin bath solution or what I did with it - mix it with water and use it as a toner or mist during the day.

Some By Mi Super Matcha Pore Clean Clay Mask

Ingredients: Water, Kaolin(120,000 Ppm), Glycerin, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Water(102,000 Ppm), Titanium Dioxide(Ci 77891), Bentonite, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Chamaecyparis Obtusa Leaf Extract, Silica, Manicouagan Clay(1,000 Ppm), Camellia Sinensis Leaf(50 Ppm), Camellia Sinensis Leaf Powder(4,000 Ppm), Houttuynia Cordata Powder, Centella Asiatica Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract(100 Ppm), Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Rosa Rugosa Leaf Extract, Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract, Water(Glacier Water), Melaleuc√† Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Water, Water(Carbonated Water), Allantoin, Madecassic Acid, Asiaticoside, Asiatic Acid, Capryloyl Salicylic Acid, Butylene Glycol, Caprylyl Glycol, Xanthan Gum, Polyvinyl Alcohol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Benzyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Raspberry Ketone, Fragrance

If you want to buy yourself a pre-made clay mask, go for a kaolin mask mixed with something else like green tea, artemisia, etc. This one has a really powerful formula, with green tea, houttuynia and centella.

Dr.Ceuracle Jeju Matcha Clay Pack

Ingredients: Water, Kaolin (20%), Dipropylene Glycol, Bentonite (8.5%), Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract (3.5%), Betaine, Silica, Butylene Glycol, Montmorillonite (1.1%), 1,2-Hexanediol, Illite (0.9%), Hydroxyethyl Urea, Cellulose, Xanthan Gum, Chromium Oxide Greens, Citric Acid, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance, Hydroxyacetophenone, Ethylhexylglycerin

Dr.Ceuracle Jeju Matcha Clay Pack is a bit more inexpensive mask than Some By Mi, the ingredients are more simple, but I believe both masks are worth a try. I remember leegeehaam version and it was impressive.
