Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence SPF 50 PA ++++ sunscreen

We all know that sunscreen should be used not only during the summer but the entire year. It can be helpful in treating acne, pigmentation and post-acne inflammation. Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence SPF 50 PA ++++ sunscreen is a new addition to a Klairs family as well as to Klairs Freshly Juiced line. A lightweight sunscreen for sensitive skin that protects our skin from UVA & UVB.

About the brand

Klairs is a Korean skincare brand with a motto "simple, but enough". The brand focuses on skin-friendly and animal-friendly products so most of the products are Vegan, cruelty-free and free from artificial fragrances or colourants. Klairs was one of the first brands I've tried and since then I have some products which I use or buy regularly.

Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence - Packaging

The new Klairs sunscreen clearly looks like a proud member of Freshly Juiced line - you can clearly see the colours - it just fits the theme. I'm not surprised why this product is an addition to this line, not Blue Midnight line because usually if you use Vitamin C, you'll be told to use sunscreen. As long as Vitamin E sleeping mask has to make Vitamin C serum more powerful on the skin, this product should protect the skin and make effects of the treatment even better. The cream is hidden in a box with a holographic design of the cream. Both bottle and paper box are recyclable - it's paper and plastic. The only thing I've noticed - the silver details on the packaging can be scratched but that's not a thing that I really care about.

What's about the texture?

I guess we have to discuss the texture since the texture is one of the most important things in a sunscreen. The word 'essence' is used for a reason, I saw many sunscreens called essence because it can help you in some countries to go through some old-fashioned regulations but also because the texture is different than a heavy fluid sunscreen. Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence is definitely not a heavy product. It's a lightweight milky formula that doesn't leave a white cast even if the colour of the cream is white. From what I remember Klairs stated that this sunscreen has a gel-like formula - it doesn't remind me of a gel at all but it's still a formula that I can see myself using (I already use it!). The cream gets quickly absorbed by the skin leaving the velvet feeling and a bit of a healthy shine on the surface of the skin. It doesn't transfer on clothes and it doesn't leave any smudges on your face. If it comes to the scent then I'm not sure if it's me or I can't smell it at all.

Because Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence is a sunscreen let's focus on ingredients that provide UVA and UVB protection. To make it easier to understand why we need UVB and UVA protection - UVA penetrates the skin deeper and it can speed up the ageing process while UVB is usually associated with the harm made on the top layer of the skin. This sunscreen is fully made out of chemical filters. Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate might sound scary but its another name is Uvinul A Plus. This sunscreen protects us from the damage made by UVA while Ethylhexyl Triazone also known as Uvinul T 150 protects the skin from harm made by UVB.  This sunscreen is not only about filters. Similarly to Vitamin E Mask, it contains Niacinamide also called Vitamin B3. It's an anti-ageing ingredient, but why I use Niacinamide in my routine is the fact that it helps with pigmentation. My skin doesn't like the mix of Vitamin C and Niacinamide and because I use vitamin C serum I had to make a patch test. Try to do a patch test if your skin is sensitive or you know that vitamin C and niacinamide mixture doesn't go well with your skin if you had problems with this duo before. Hopefully, everything worked well. The reason why I use vitamin C serum and products with niacinamide is that the results of vitamin C treatments are better when you use them with niacinamide. There's also Panthenol in it, a soothing ingredient with anti-inflammatory properties. If that's not enough then you might be interested in Adenosine - another anti-inflammatory ingredient that can speed up the healing process. The sunscreen is full of hydrating and moisturizing ingredients such as Tocopherol, Allantoin, Glycerin, Sodium Hyaluronate or Beta-Glucan.

Some friends you might not like

Obviously, there are ingredients that some skins might not like. For example Cetearyl Alcohol - an emulsifier - or Glyceryl Stearate Se - another emulsifier that can be comedogenic. I'm aware that Tocopherol and Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil might also be a source of skin problems but as I always say - it's a personal thing, by looking at the ingredients and knowing your skin you can predict how the skin will react.

How does Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence work?

But who cares about ingredients? It's all about how it works with a sunscreen! When I was trying to make a list what I should focus on while making a review I saw that lots of people care about how sunscreen works with makeup. It's a tricky question since I feel like Fenty Beauty foundation doesn't want to work with it and I'm one of these bloggers that use one foundation but Fenty doesn't really work well with my face anyway (it's getting so cakey) so this question is still one big mystery for me but I don't see my face getting more oily while using this sunscreen. The cream itself is quickly absorbed by the skin, it doesn't make skin sticky and I feel like it helps me with skin redness. Obviously, it's hard to test sunscreen at home since I cannot measure the protection but still, I tried to reapply the sunscreen every 2-3 hours if it was possible - it is but with my foundation it was very tricky. Overall, my feelings towards this sunscreen are positive, I can't feel it on my face, the scent is neutral, there's no white cast and it's based on great filters. By the way - I didn't try the blue sunscreen from Klairs (which seems to be sold out at the moment on Wishtrend) but as long as blue one didn't get my interest this one after I saw ingredients I knew that I'll have to try it.

Where to get Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence?

As always the sunscreen is available on Wishtrend and it costs 23$ for 80 ml - it's not a bad price and at the moment I was making this review it was sold out. The good information is that next month we've got Black Friday and I'm sure Wishtrend will have an amazing offer on this product - I'll make a post about my Black Friday recommendations just like I did a year ago but if you want to get it before you can also check Promo codes section.

Do you use sunscreen every day? Have you ever tried any Klairs product and have you tried this sunscreen or maybe do you plan to try it?
