Neogen Dermalogy White Truffle Ampoule Drop Mist and Neogen Dermalogy White Truffle Serum in Oil Drop

Neogen has been my favourite brand for ages now, but I never made a post about my favourite series for dehydrated, sensitive and dry skin types - meet White Truffle series. I feel like Neogen Dermalogy White Truffle Serum in Oil Drop is more popular than other Neogen's products - Neogen Dermalogy White Truffle Ampoule Drop Mist.

About Neogen

Neogen is a brand that you can often see on Kherblog. It was one of the first K-beauty brands I've tried. I'm sorry to my ex-boss if she reads this, but I used to take a more extended break and go shopping for Neogen instead of eating dinner. My history with Neogen started three years ago, but this brand is not that young. Neogen is a brand that mix technology and nature to create products. Its sister-brand RE:P is probably the first K-beauty Vegan brand with Leaping Bunny Certificate - if you search for a certificate, you'll find that Neogen's and RE:P's mother-company - Outin Futures - got certificated. Neogen has a youtube channel with useful skincare tips called NEOGEN DermaTV. In 2018 Neogen released a new moisturizer in collaboration with Joan Kim (fun fact: you can find the photo I took in Joan's video). Joan x Neogen collab had a make-over in 2021. What's the difference between Neogen Dermalogy and Neogen Code9? Both Neogen lines are high-quality series at affordable prices, but Dermalogy products are similar to cosmeceuticals while Code9 is a fashionable and trendy line. Neogen other sister companies are Sur.Medic and RAAR. In 2021, Neogen released the Cica Repair Snail line and Bakuchiol serum. The brand collaborated with the K-pop band Dreamcatcher.

Neogen Dermalogy White Truffle Ampoule Drop Mist - Texture & Scent

I love how this mist has two layers - a transparent one and a yellow oily one. Oily layer floats on the transparent layer. The formula doesn't fit oily on the skin. Neogen Dermalogy White Truffle Ampoule Drop Mist has a delicate hint of Bergamot.

Water hides in a cosmetic product under names such as Aqua or Eau. It's a solvent, but it's not your regular drinking water. If we want to use water in skincare products, we need to make sure this water is clean and free from minerals, any microorganisms or other substances. Usually, water makes the majority of the content of the product. Dipropylene Glycol is a solvent with moisturizing properties. Butylene Glycol is a common ingredient in products. It's not only a solvent. We use butylene glycol because it helps with the penetration of active ingredients, protects products from drying and moisturizes skin and hair. This ingredient can prevent hair loss and make your hair stronger. Isononyl Isononanoate is a dry synthetic emollient, and it helps with product application. It can give you a smooth, silk film on the surface of the skin, and it protects your skin from dehydration. 1,2-Hexanediol is a synthetic solvent and preservative. It protects products from microorganisms by boosting other preservatives. At the same time, it can moisturize the skin, and it has no unpleasant effects on your epidermis. Glycerin or Glycerol is a humectant. Its origin can be natural or synthetic - depending on the product. It protects TEWL (transepidermal water loss) and naturally occurs in the skin. It's one of the NMFs - natural moisturizing factors. It's practical in haircare. Glycerin won't clog your skin or irritate it just the opposite - it protects your skin from irritation. Niacinamide is a form of vitamin B3. It's a vitamin soluble in water. It helps with wrinkles, acne, skin texture and enlarged pores. It helps with collagen synthesis. Niacinamide makes the skin barrier stronger, and it might be useful in cellulite treatments. Mix niacinamide with kojic acid, arbutin, vitamin C, tranexamic acid or retinol to fight pigmentation or uneven skin. Betaine is an amino acid. In skincare products, we use it for its moisturizing properties. Betaine keeps the water balance of the skin. It e wrinkles appear less visible, and it soothes irritated skin. In haircare, betaine doesn't only moisturize the hair. It makes hair soft and shiny. Betaine in cosmetics usually comes from sweet beetroots. It naturally occurs in skin and hair. Ethylhexylglycerin is a preservative with subtle moisturizing and antimicrobial properties. Olea Europaea is an olive tree, the literal name means European Olive, and the name fits it well since it's a plant which you can find in the Mediterranean region of Europe, but there are other places where Olive can be found. Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil is a source of oleic acid (around 83%), linoleic acid and palmitic acid. It's a liquid oil with a long tradition. In skincare, it is used as an antioxidant and emollient, it's a good moisturizer, but it can be a bit comedogenic. Still, it's an individual thing if an ingredient breaks you out or not - it can but it doesn't mean it will. Adenosine naturally occurs in the skin. One of the adenosine's roles in our bodies is being a neurotransmitter. In skincare, we use adenosine for its anti-wrinkle properties. Adenosine is an anti-inflammatory ingredient. It can boost collagen production, and at the same time, speed up the healing process. Adenosine can have positive effects on reducing redness. In haircare, adenosine can help with hair loss. Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit Oil is a red/orange oil. A source of vitamin E, Omega-7, lycopene and zeaxanthin. It works as an antioxidant and oily emollient. Sea Buckthorn Oil can make your skin orange. Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil or Rose Geranium Flower Essential Oil is an essential oil, which means it might be sensitizing for your skin. Pelargonium graveolens is a flower typical for South Africa. You can usually find it in perfumes, aromatherapy or skincare, as a scent ingredient. Xanthan Gum is a thickener and stabilizer which you can find in food and skincare. Panthenol is a humectant. It prevents skin from TEWL (Transepidermal Water Loss). Panthenol is also known as vitamin B5, and it helps with irritation. You can see it in products for atopic dermatitis or psoriasis. It can soothe the skin irritated by preservatives, scent ingredients, and chemical sunscreens. It might have a meaning for lipids in our skin and skin barrier. It speeds up the healing process. It's good to use it after sunbathing. In haircare, Panthenol has moisturizing properties. It makes your hair easier to detangle, and it can have a positive effect on hair growth. It is good to mix it with niacinamide and zinc oxide. Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil is an essential oil. It makes a product smell nice. Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil is an essential oil. It contains menthol, menthofuran, menthone, tannins, and flavonoids. Peppermint Oil works as an antiseptic and antibacterial agent. It gives the skin a chill sensation, stimulates blood circulation, and relieves swelling. It adds a scent to the product. Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil - is an essential oil. It's a phototoxic substance, that's why you shouldn't use it if you plan to sunbathe. I would recommend being careful with this substance during the summer. It might have a pleasant scent, but some people are allergic to it, and if you're pregnant - it's good to avoid it. Chamomilla Recutita Flower Oil is a soothing essential oil. It's a source of bisabolol, chamazulene and flavonoids. Hyaluronic Acid is an ingredient that everyone knows, and lately, European brands seem to be obsessed with it. Hyaluronic Acid is an ingredient that naturally occurs in our skin, and people usually think it's a wonderful moisturizer - the answer to dry skin. We have to remember that HA in skincare comes in a few different forms - a low molecule or high molecule, the smaller the molecule is, the easier is the penetration of the product. Usually, low molecule HA costs more, and you can barely even see the product with HA and information on the molecular weight of the Hyaluronic Acid. Some people might get reactions to HA - my skin gets dehydrated when I use HA serums, sometimes I have to deal with redness or even acne after using HA serums, but acne, redness, skin sensitivity, and other reactions to the skin are personal. One product can work for you, but it won't work for your friend - same with ingredients. Sodium PCA stands for Sodium Pyrrolidone Carboxylic Acid, and it's a humectant. It leaves a hydrating film on your skin that prevents transepidermal water loss (TEWL). Sodium PCA naturally occurs in the skin. Sodium Lactate is a salt form of Lactic Acid. Usually, it derives from wheat or beets in a fermentation process. It works as a humectant, and it balances the pH of the product. Macadamia Integrifolia Seed Oil is a source of oleic acid which makes it a great emollient for dry skin. This oil is very popular for hair care. Arginine is an amino acid. It helps with protein biosynthesis in adults. According to research from 1964, a lack of arginine might raise your chance to get an HSV infection. Aspartic Acid is an amino acid, it has a positive effect on the moisture of the skin. Ceramide NP or Ceramide 3 is an ingredient that we want to see in our products. Ceramides naturally occur in human skin, and they have a dominant role. You can find them in the lipid barrier of the skin along with cholesterol and fatty acids. Ceramide is like a cement of the skin. It makes sure that your skin won't get dehydrated. Cholesterol is an ingredient that we associate with health. We talk a lot about good and bad cholesterol, but do you know that cholesterol has a vast meaning for your skin? It's a lipid that you can find in the skin barrier. It makes the skin barrier stronger and prevents your skin from irritation and dehydration. In a product, it's an emollient. Tuber Magnatum Extract(20Ppb) or white truffle extract is supposed to have anti-ageing properties. Adansonia Digitata Seed Oil or Baobab Seed Oil is a source of oleic and linoleic acids. It's also a source of many nutritious substances such as Vitamin E or Vitamin A. It's a great emollient, and even acne-prone skin should enjoy it. Stearic Acid is an emollient that you can love or hate. The problem is that not every skin likes it - mine usually breaks out when you show it Stearic Acid. Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil is an avocado oil - a source of oleic, palmitic and linoleic acid, Vitamin A, D, and Vitamin E. It's great for skin, hair and nails. Phytosphingosine is a lipid that naturally occurs in human skin. It has antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. Phytosphingosine can be helpful for acne-prone skin, sensitive skin and rosacea. It might help you get rid of statics in your hair. Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid is a low weight humectant. It's a form of natural moisturizing factor that occurs in our skin - Hyaluronic Acid. The smaller the molecule is, the better it works. Glycine is an amino acid, it's a moisturizer that promotes wound healing. Alanine, Serine, Valine. Isoleucine, Threonine, Proline, Phenylalanine and Histidine are amino acids. Sodium Hyaluronate is a salt form of a popular Natural Moisturizing Factor - Hyaluronic Acid. Disodium EDTA neutralizes metal ions in the formula to keep products fresh for a longer time.

How does Neogen Dermalogy White Truffle Ampoule Drop Mist work?

I have to admit, I started to use Neogen Dermalogy White Truffle Ampoule Drop Mist too late, and according to the date on the packaging, I'm not supposed to use this product, but as long as it smells fine - I've decided to test it anyway. The formula has two layers, but you can shake this product and kinda combine the formula. I always wonder how Neogen figured out to create the White Truffle line since the main ingredient is unique and reminds me of Italy or an expensive dish at a restaurant. Thankfully, Neogen Dermalogy White Truffle Ampoule Drop Mist is not expensive, but the ingredients were selected with great taste. It's a formula full of minerals and amino acids. I was surprised how Neogen made a product that I believe lacks popularity in comparison to other Neogen's products. I don't know why this series seems to be less famous white this formula can be a moisture booster or it can even help you strengthen your skin barrier. According to the brand, this formula adds glow to the skin. I wish I tested it a bit longer, but I'm pretty sure I'll buy another bottle soon since this mist might be helpful even for oily-prone skin. Remember that even oily-prone skin or acne-prone skin needs some moisture boost.

Neogen Dermalogy White Truffle Serum in Oil Drop - Texture & Scent

Neogen Dermalogy White Truffle Serum in Oil Drop has a delicate scent. The texture is rich, and it might feel a bit oily especially when it contains oils in the formula.

Neogen Dermalogy White Truffle Serum in Oil Drop - Ingredients

Water, Dimethicone, Glycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Niacinamide, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Butylene Glycol, Tromethamine, Xanthan Gum, Adenosine, Coptis Japonica Extract, Cyanocobalamin, Sodium Cocoyl Alaninate, Palmitoyl Isoleucine, Cyclopentasiloxane, Pseudoalteromonas Ferment Extract, Ethylhexyl Cocoate, Caprylyl Glycol, Dimethiconol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Palmitic Acid, Macadamia Integrifolia Seed Oil, Elaeis Guineensis (Palm) Oil, Ceramide NP, Cholesterol, Phytosphingosine, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Adansonia Digitata Seed Oil, Stearic Acid, Tuber Magnatum Extract, Dimethylmethoxy Chromanyl Palmitate, Proline, Alanine, Serine, Sodium Phosphate, Hyaluronic Acid, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Pentapeptide-18, Citric Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate

Dimethicone is a dry emollient. Some people might find clogging, but it keeps your skin moist and protect it from dehydration. It has a positive effect on the skin barrier by creating occlusion, and it helps with scars. It can also smooth your skin visually. It's also silicone that's why some people like to talk badly about Dimethicone just because of this fact, but there's no reason to be frightened. It gives your skin an occlusive film, but it doesn't suffocate your skin. We need occlusion to prevent water from TEWL (Transepidermal Water Loss) - to keep the skin moist. It protects your hair from dehydration and weather, and it makes it easier to brush your hair. Glycerin or Glycerol is a humectant. Its origin can be natural or synthetic - depending on the product. It protects TEWL (transepidermal water loss) and naturally occurs in the skin. It's one of the NMFs - natural moisturizing factors. It's practical in haircare. Mix niacinamide with kojic acid, arbutin, vitamin C, tranexamic acid or retinol to fight pigmentation or uneven skin. Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer is a carbomer's distant family. It works as a stabilizer and thickener. Butylene Glycol is a common ingredient in products. It's not only a solvent. We use butylene glycol because it helps with the penetration of active ingredients, protects products from drying and moisturizes skin and hair. This ingredient can prevent hair loss and make your hair stronger. Tromethamine helps with the pH, to make sure your product has an ideal pH. Xanthan Gum is a thickener and stabilizer which you can find in food and skincare. Adenosine naturally occurs in the skin. One of the adenosine's roles in our bodies is being a neurotransmitter. Adenosine can have positive effects on reducing redness. In haircare, adenosine can help with hair loss. Cyanocobalamin or vitamin B12 is not so popular in skincare, we all associate this vitamin with the one vitamin that vegans and vegetarians have problems with. Vitamin B12 like all vitamins have an important role in our bodies, it helps us function. During my med school, I was told to avoid B12 in skincare if you have acne, but for mature skin, this vitamin can make it look better. Cyclopentasiloxane is not only an emollient but silicone. I'm aware that because of the internet, people treat silicones like the worst ingredients you can find in the product. But are they as bad as people say? No! Silicones are good for the skin since they work as occlusives - what they do is protect the skin from dehydration. Cyclopentasiloxane is a volatile silicone, which means that once you apply it to the surface of your skin, it will evaporate. It won't get absorbed by the skin, that's why you shouldn't be scared. If you're allergic then the good news is that the chance of getting allergic reactions to silicones is very rare. Pseudoalteromonas Ferment Extract or Antarcticine is an ingredient that I met while testing Neogen Dermalogy Canadian Clay Pore Cleanser. You can see by its name - this ingredient is a ferment. The name Antarcticine has a deeper meaning - since it is derived from bacteria that live in the Antarctic Ocean. This type of bacteria was found in 1988. It prevents TEWL (transepidermal water loss), makes your skin smooth and it should help with the synthesis of collagen type I and IV (a fact for you, for the skin we need to focus on Type I and III, even if we know that in general there are 28 types of collagen or even more). What does that mean? It can help us with wrinkles and speed up wound healing. Ethylhexyl Cocoate is a fatty emollient.

Neogen Dermalogy White Truffle Serum in Oil Drop

Caprylyl Glycol is a moisturizer and an oily emollient. It leaves a delicate, protective film on your skin. But that's not all, Caprylyl Glycol is useful when you want to keep your product free from unfriendly stuff like microbes. Dimethiconol is a light emollient. You can find it in makeup products because it makes your skin look soft and shiny (in a positive way). Ethylhexylglycerin is a preservative with subtle moisturizing and antimicrobial properties. Palmitic Acid is a fatty acid, which you can find as a compound of many oils. It's an oily emollient, but sometimes oily skin might not enjoy it. Macadamia Integrifolia Seed Oil is a source of oleic acid which makes it a great emollient for dry skin. This oil is very popular for hair care. Ceramide NP or Ceramide 3 is an ingredient that we want to see in our products. Ceramides naturally occur in human skin, and they have a dominant role. One product can work for you, but it won't work for your friend - same with ingredients. Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 is a synthetic peptide (sometimes called neuropeptide or biomimetic peptide). Lots of brands and media did a great job behind the marketing of this substance. That's why you can spot it with names such as Botox-like peptides or treatment. It won't give you the same effects as botox, but there are some similarities. Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 can help with wrinkles by decreasing the visibility of wrinkles and fine lines created by repetitive movements of muscles. Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 inhibits SNARE complex and catecholamine release. It can stimulate collagen synthesis, and it has powerful, water-binding properties. That's why acetyl hexapeptide-8 might increase the moisture of the skin. It's better to use this peptide near the eye area to prevent fine lines in the eye area. Unless you have drooping eyelids, then the use of acetyl hexapeptide-8 is not recommended for you. If you have muscle problems, it's better to consult with your doctor or PT first, adding acetyl hexapeptide-8 to your routine. Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 can hide under the name Argireline or Acetyl Hexapeptide-3. Pentapeptide-18 or Leuphasyl is a peptide that contains five amino acids. This ingredient is popular due to its anti-wrinkle properties. Usually, you can see it mixed with Argireline. Citric acid is an AHA (alpha hydroxy acid). It's a delicate exfoliant and a buffering ingredient. It adjusts the pH of the formula. Sodium Hydroxide is a pH adjuster. Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid is a low weight humectant. It's a form of natural moisturizing factor that occurs in our skin - Hyaluronic Acid. The smaller the molecule is, the better it works. Sodium Hyaluronate is a salt form of a popular Natural Moisturizing Factor - Hyaluronic Acid.

How does Neogen Dermalogy White Truffle Serum in Oil Drop work?

The first time I met this serum was when I bought Neogen Dermalogy White Truffle Radiance Oil Pact and got Neogen Dermalogy White Truffle Serum in Oil Drop as a sample. I have to admit, I truly miss Neogen Dermalogy White Truffle Radiance Oil Pact. It got discontinued just like another product from Neogen's White Truffle series - Neogen Dermalogy White Truffle Laycure Oil Stick. I have no idea why Neogen decided to discontinue these two products, I wasn't as interested in serum as in stick or oil pact. I didn't see any reason to use Neogen Dermalogy White Truffle Serum in Oil Drop sample until I had a bad experience with Vichy masks - yes, you can see now how long Neogen Dermalogy White Truffle Serum in Oil Drop was my private secret of the healthy skin barrier and happy skin. Since in few days, I have to visit my uni where my skin for a week will have to deal with many various skin treatments and professional skincare products which my skin hates - the magic of universities and their deals with brands, like why can't they have deals with few brands and let me choose products that fit my skin, not the one we have from brands even if my skin reacts badly to all the products created by one brand? Back to Neogen Dermalogy White Truffle Serum in Oil Drop, last year I came back from uni with red skin and I had problems since local drugstores didn't have any good product with ceramides that could help me rebuild my skin barrier ASAP, and calm the skin. Neogen Dermalogy White Truffle Serum in Oil Drop might look oily, but it's a source of positive ingredients for damaged skin barriers as amino acids, ceramides and cholesterol. My experience with Neogen Dermalogy White Truffle Serum in Oil Drop has been always positive. I use it during the night routine since it might not work with your makeup during the morning routine, but 2-3 drops of this serum change your routine completely. It's a great choice if you want to use oils in your skincare but you're not sure about using an oil or if you want to add moisture and glow to the skin. I feel like right now the Probiotic line introduced by Neogen might be a series that you are supposed to try instead of the white truffle series since both are focused on the damaged skin barrier. Sur.medic - a Neogen's sister brand has ceramide line.
