Dr Irena Eris Clinic Way Regenerating-Moisturising Night Cream and Dr Irena Eris Clinic Way Moisturising BB Cream SPF 50

I barely ever make reviews of Polish brands, but it's time to introduce you to Dr Irena Eris. Thanks to TRND I was able to test two products from Dr Irena Eris - Dr Irena Eris Clinic Way Regenerating-Moisturising Night Cream and Dr Irena Eris Clinic Way Moisturising BB Cream SPF 50. Is this Polish brand your next go-to brand?

About Dr Irena Eris

Dr Irena Eris is a brand which I remember well - I even applied for a job at this company, and probably if it wasn't my fear back then maybe I would work as a consultant for Dr Irena Eris. This brand is not only for skincare and makeup but cosmetic institutes and hotels. Dr Irena Eris even has its own research centrum. The brand exists since 1983 and it's considered to be a luxurious brand.

I haven't tried any skincare from Dr Irena Eris, but back in the days Dr Irena Eris had a body balm that won for me with other body balms - it was a Dr Irena Eris Spa Resort Toscana body balm that smelled like grapes. I still miss it! By the way, the name Dr Irena Eris is actually the name of the owner - Irena Szołomicka-Orfinger. She's a pharmacist.

I was able to test two products from Dr Irena Eris thanks to TRND - Dr Irena Eris Clinic Way Regenerating-Moisturising Night Cream and Dr Irena Eris Clinic Way Moisturising BB Cream SPF 50. about two weeks before this test one seller at a bigger drugstore in Poland recommended me this BB Cream, but I'll share with you the reason why I didn't buy it later in this post.

Dr Irena Eris Clinic Way Regenerating-Moisturising Night Cream

Dr Irena Eris Clinic Way Regenerating-Moisturising Night Cream - Packaging

Dr Irena Eris Clinic Way Regenerating-Moisturising Night Cream comes in a paper box which I'm not a fan of - once you open it, you won't be able to close it, but I'm glad the brand decided to focus on the packaging which is quite unique in closing. Inside you can see a manual and a glass jar with a plastic (I guess) lid. It's a heavy glass jar so you shouldn't have problems with it - even if it falls, it should survive.

Dr Irena Eris Clinic Way Regenerating-Moisturising Night Cream - Texture & Scent

Don't be surprised, this lightweight texture is very rich, but it doesn't make my skin oily. It works perfectly with my combo skin type. You can kinda feel it contains shea butter and other oils, but it's not oily - it's just very easy in spreading and it sinks into the skin quickly. The scent is creamy, it reminds me a bit of lily or flowers.

Dr Irena Eris Clinic Way Regenerating-Moisturising Night Cream

Dr Irena Eris Clinic Way Regenerating-Moisturising Night Cream - Ingredients

Aqua (Water), Propanediol, Glycerin, Pentaerythrityl Tetraisostearate, Oleyl Erucate, Dimethicone, Polyglyceryl-6 Distearate, Hydrogenated Olive Oil Decyl Esters, Pentylene Glycol, Saccharide Isomerate, Cetyl Alcohol, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Maris Aqua (Sea Water), Glycine Soja (Soybean) Seed Extract, Ceramide NG, Calcium Hydroxide, Hydroxyacetophenone, Tocopherol, Jojoba Esters, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Passiflora Incarnata (Passionflower) Seed Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Hydrogenated Vegetable Glycerides Citrate, Stearyl Alcohol, Polyglyceryl-3 Beeswax, Carbomer, Sodium Carbonate, Sodium Phytate, Xanthan Gum, Myristyl Alcohol, Citric Acid, Sodium Citrate, Arachidyl Alcohol, Parfum (Fragrance)

Aqua (Water) hides in a cosmetic product under names such as Aqua or Eau. It's a solvent, but it's not your regular drinking water. If we want to use water in skincare products, we need to make sure this water is clean and free from minerals, any microorganisms or other substances. Usually, water makes up the majority of the content of the product. Propanediol is also known as natural glycol - an alternative for propylene glycol. Propanediol is a solvent with additional moisturizing properties. It makes the texture of the product smooth to touch, and it can even improve the effectiveness of active ingredients. Glycerin or Glycerol is a humectant. Its origin can be natural or synthetic - depending on the product. It protects TEWL (transepidermal water loss) and naturally occurs in the skin. It's one of the NMFs - natural moisturizing factors. It's practical in haircare. Glycerin won't clog your skin or irritate it just the opposite - it protects your skin from irritation. Pentaerythrityl Tetraisostearate is an emollient and an emulsifier. It leaves a delicate film on the skin. We can say that this formula gives your skin a pleasant glass/honey effect. Oleyl Erucate is an oily emollient ester. It's a combination of erucic acid with oleyl alcohol. It leaves an oily protective film on the skin to make it soft and moist, but at the same time, it protects the skin from wind and cold. It adds moisture and shine to the hair. It's a biodegradable ingredient. Dimethicone is a dry emollient. Some people might find clogging, but it keeps your skin moist and protect it from dehydration. It has a positive effect on the skin barrier by creating occlusion, and it helps with scars. It can also smooth your skin visually. It's also a silicone that's why some people like to talk badly about Dimethicone just because of this fact, but there's no reason to be frightened. It gives your skin an occlusive film, but it doesn't suffocate your skin. We need occlusion to prevent water from TEWL (Transepidermal Water Loss) - to keep the skin moist. It protects your hair from dehydration and weather, and it makes it easier to brush your hair. Polyglyceryl-6 Distearate is a water in oil emulsifier. Hydrogenated Olive Oil Decyl Esters is a softening agent. Pentylene Glycol is a humectant with antimicrobial properties. Saccharide Isomerate is a moisturizer derived from vegetables. This humectant can soothe skin irritation and boosts the skin barrier.

Cetyl Alcohol is good alcohol and while writing that I reminded myself of an old joke about two drunk men drinking methanol and one said to the other one - we should drink faster, it's getting dark here - obviously, it's dark humour, because you are not supposed to drink methanol, so in this case, ethanol is also good alcohol. Cetyl alcohol is an oily emollient and emulsifier. It locks the water in your skin and prevents dehydration. Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter is a butter obtained from seeds of the Vitellaria paradoxa tree - a tree typical for Africa. It's an emollient rich in antioxidants like vitamin E or vitamin A. It's a source of oleic acid, stearic acid and linoleic acid. Shea butter is a well-moisturizing emollient that leaves a fine film on the skin and hair to protect from dehydration. It has soothing properties, and it might provide sun protection around SPF 2-4 (still, use proper sun protecting agents instead of oils and butter for your safety). This ingredient is an excellent choice for dry skin and psoriasis. Shea butter hydrates hair and helps them look shinier. It's good to choose certified shea butter from a trusted source. Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride is a combination of coconut oil and glycerin. It's a notable emollient, quite common in skincare. It leaves a protective film on the surface of the epidermis to save your cutis from dehydration. Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride has a significant role in skin care products - it makes the application process effortless. Some people might experience pore-clogging after using Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, but pore-clogging and skin reactions to ingredients are individual. What works for you might not work for someone else. Maris Aqua (Sea Water) contains many good micro and macro elements for your skin. It has some anti-inflammatory and anti-septic properties. It can add moisture to the skin. In a long run, it might dehydrate the skin as well. Glycine Soja (Soybean) Seed Extract is an antioxidant. It's a source of phytoestrogen, daidzein, geinstein, lecitin and isoflavone. Soybean extract can reduce the transfer of melanin, but at the same time, this ingredient shouldn't be used in skin pigmentation problems like melasma since melasma is associated with hormones. It has anti-inflammatory properties, it can boost collagen stimulation. If you deal with visible veins on the skin - soybean extract can be helpful. Ceramides naturally occur in the skin - it's like cement in the skin. Ceramide NG is one of the types of Ceramides, and it has an important role in the skin. With age ceramide levels in the skin decrease. Ceramide NG helps to keep your skin barrier strong and protects your skin from damage. This ingredient helps with wrinkles and moisture of the skin. Calcium Hydroxide is a buffering ingredient - it balances the level of pH of the product. Hydroxyacetophenone reminds me of acetone as an antioxidant, but it is an antioxidant that keeps our products fresh and protects ingredients from oxidation. Tocopherol is an antioxidant known as Vitamin E. It's an oil-soluble vitamin that fights free radicals and makes UVB protection and the natural lipid barrier stronger. It's good to mix it with vitamin C for better effects. Oily skin might react with pore-clogging to vitamin E. It is not true that vitamin E works as a preservative or helps with scars. Jojoba Esters - an emollient that leaves an oily film on the skin to nourish your epidermis. Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil is an avocado oil - a source of oleic, palmitic and linoleic acid, Vitamin A, D, and Vitamin E. It's great for skin, hair and nails. Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil is nothing else than Argan Oil, I remember when a few years ago Argan Oil was super trendy. It's a source of oleic acid, Argan Oil comes from Morocco and it's a good emollient for dry skin, I would be careful if you have acne-prone skin since it might be a source of new pimples. I use Argan Oil on my hair, and I enjoy it even if I could easily name a few other oils better than argan oil for hair & skin.

Passiflora Incarnata (Passionflower) Seed Oil is an oily emollient. It's a source of linoleic and oleic acids. It's rich in vitamins and minerals such as vitamin C, vitamin E, sodium and potassium. It protects your skin from cold and wind. It might be helpful in body care since it strengths blood vessels and has soothing properties. Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil is a source of linoleic acid, and vitamin E. Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil works as an emollient. Sometimes you can see it as a carrier oil for other substances. It has anti-inflammatory properties and makes the skin barrier stronger. This oil should work on all types of hair porosity. Hydrogenated Vegetable Glycerides Citrate is an emollient with emulsifying properties. Usually, when we see any alcohol, we suspect the worst. You shouldn't be scared of Stearyl Alcohol - it's an oily emollient. It leaves a protective film on your skin, it works as an emulsifier too. Polyglyceryl-3 Beeswax is an emulsifier related to beeswax. Carbomer is a thickener and stabilizer. You can often see it in gel formulas. Sodium Carbonate balances the pH of the product. Sodium Phytate is a chelating agent derived from corn. It neutralizes the ions in the products to make sure your product stays a fresh bit longer. Xanthan Gum is a thickener and stabilizer which you can find in food and skincare. Myristyl Alcohol is good alcohol. It's an emollient and it protects skin from dehydration. Citric Acid is an AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) - a delicate exfoliant and a buffering ingredient. It adjusts the pH of the formula. Sodium Citrate neutralizes metal ions, but it also modifies the pH. Sodium Citrate neutralizes metal ions, but it also adjusts the pH. Arachidyl Alcohol is an oily emollient, it leaves a film on the skin. Fragrance (Parfum) is a scent composition. It can cause allergic reactions.

Dr Irena Eris Clinic Way Regenerating-Moisturising Night Cream

First impression of Dr Irena Eris Clinic Way Regenerating-Moisturising Night Cream

Dr Irena Eris Clinic Way Regenerating-Moisturising Night Cream is a huge surprise for me because my last experience with Polish cleansing balms wasn't positive - I bought two balms from brands not related to Dr Irena Eris and they both burned my eyes. Somehow, Dr Irena Eris keeps a luxury level and this moisturizer proves it! I haven't tried a moisturizer like this one for a while. The aesthetic of Dr Irena Eris is quite minimalistic, but the ingredients aren't - you can find in this moisturizer many positive ingredients for the skin like shea butter, ceramide NG, jojoba esters, tocopherol or argan oil. The cream feels luxurious - it's not oily, it's lightweight and rich, but once you apply it onto your skin, it has this velvet feeling. Dr Irena Eris Clinic Way Regenerating-Moisturising Night Cream is easy to spread, it sinks into your skin in seconds but it leaves this delicate, gentle film that makes skin soft. The delicate scent of the cream stays on the skin too. Personally, I enjoy both hydrating and nourishing texture mixed with this delicate floral & creamy scent. Obviously, I couldn't be happy with this moisturizer for too long since my mother already decided to test it on her skin. Something that is worth mentioning, but you won't read about it in the ingredients - this cream contains Aqua Calcis, why you won't read about it? Since usually brands have to write names of ingredients that make one complex. That's why when you buy a cream with Matrixyl 3000 you won't find the name Matrixyl 3000 in the ingredients but ingredients that make this complex. It's a more complicated topic since the amounts of ingredients matter. Dr Irena Eris Clinic Way Regenerating-Moisturising Night Cream is recommended for dry skin. My skin is a combo, but combo and oily skin can be dehydrated - in this case, Dr Irena Eris's cream should help you just like it helps me every single night. Just to mention, the PAO date of this cream is 6 months.

Dr Irena Eris Clinic Way Moisturising BB Cream SPF 50

Dr Irena Eris Clinic Way Moisturising BB Cream SPF 50 - Packaging

Dr Irena Eris Clinic Way Moisturising BB Cream SPF 50 comes in paper packaging - this one seems to be less annoying than in cream since it doesn't open as easily even when you don't touch it. Inside you can see a plastic tube with a 4 LDPE sign - it stands for low-density polyethene. In Poland, you can throw this type of packaging into the yellow bin which means it is recyclable.

Dr Irena Eris Clinic Way Moisturising BB Cream SPF 50

Dr Irena Eris Clinic Way Moisturising BB Cream SPF 50 - Texture & Scent

The texture is quite okay, it's a bit thicker than moisturizer solution with pigment and a more "medical" scent which you shouldn't feel on the skin. I guess this scent is related to alcohol in the formula but I might be wrong.

Dr Irena Eris Clinic Way Moisturising BB Cream SPF 50 - Ingredients

Aqua (Water), Dimethicone, Titanium Dioxide (nano), Dicaprylyl Carbonate, CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), Isododecane, Alcohol Denat., Methylene Bis-Benzotriazolyl Tetramethylbutylphenol (nano), Butylene Glycol, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Vinyl Dimethicone/Methicone Silsesquioxane Crosspolymer, Lauryl PEG-9 Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Dimethicone, Methyl Trimethicone, Acrylates/ Dimethicone Copolymer, CI 77492 (Iron Oxides), Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Maris Aqua (Sea Water), Sodium Hyaluronate, Calcium Hydroxide, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Caprylyl Glycol, Aluminum Hydroxide, Stearic Acid, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Dimethicone/ PEG-10/ 15 Crosspolymer, Saccharide Isomerate, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Sodium Chloride, Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine, Acrylates/C12-22 Alkyl Methacrylate Copolymer, Decyl Glucoside, Propylene Carbonate, Glycerin, Sodium Citrate, Perfluorooctyl Triethoxysilane, Ethylhexylglycerin, Arginine, Polyperfluoromethylisopropyl Ether, Coco-Glucoside, Propylene Glycol, Xanthan Gum, Disodium Lauryl Sulfosuccinate, Citric Acid, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Tocopherol, Hexylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Dipropylene Glycol, Parfum (Fragrance), CI 77491 (Iron Oxides), CI 77499 (Iron Oxides)

Titanium Dioxide (nano) - is a mineral sunscreen. It protects your skin from UVB and UVA (II) radiation. Usually, Titanium Dioxide leaves a white cast on the epidermis. Many people with sensitive skin prefer to use Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide instead of organic sunscreen (organic sunscreen agents contain carbon, inorganic sunscreens aka mineral sunscreens doesn't contain carbon). The Nano version of Titanium Dioxide fixes the problem with the white cast (not entirely, but you can spot the difference). You might not know that, but Titanium Dioxide is a super useful colourant and sunscreen agent. If you have melasma, you want this ingredient in your sunscreen and makeup. It gives your skin a "barrier" that protects your skin from UV radiation. Dicaprylyl Carbonate is an emollient. It makes your skincare products easy to apply to the skin. CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), CI 77492 (Iron Oxides), CI 77491 (Iron Oxides) and CI 77499 (Iron Oxides) are pigments. Isododecane is a light emollient, mostly used in hair products. Alcohol Denat is an immense topic in skincare. Alcohol can be good or bad for your skin, but sometimes the amount makes a poison. Alcohol, after all, is a prominent solvent. It makes active substances penetrate the skin deeper. This effect has its cost - the skin is getting a bit irritated. Some substances can be dissolved only in alcohol. This ingredient has antibacterial properties. It works as a preservative by preventing microorganisms from growing in the product. It has some awful sides also - it can dry your skin, mainly if we use it in large amounts. Sensitive skin is not a fan of this ingredient.

Methylene Bis-Benzotriazolyl Tetramethylbutylphenol (nano) or Tinsorb M is a sunscreen agent, it provides UVB and UVA protection. Butylene Glycol is a common ingredient in products. It's not only a solvent. We use butylene glycol because it helps with the penetration of active ingredients, protects products from drying and moisturizes skin and hair. This ingredient can prevent hair loss and make your hair stronger. Trimethylsiloxysilicate is a dry emollient and silicone. It creates a film on the surface of your skin. In makeup, it solves the problem with a longer life of your makeup during the day. Vinyl Dimethicone/Methicone Silsesquioxane Crosspolymer makes your skin looks soft. Lauryl PEG-9 Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Dimethicone is an emulsifier. Methyl Trimethicone is a solvent and light, volatile silicone. It evaporates from the surface of your skin quickly, so there's nothing to be scared about. Acrylates/Dimethicone Copolymer is a film-former with anticaking properties which makes it ideal for makeup. It makes your skin look soft and helps your makeup last a bit longer. Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract is a source of Vitamin C with a lovely scent. It's also a weak exfoliant. Maris Aqua (Sea Water) contains many good micro and macro elements for your skin. It has some anti-inflammatory and anti-septic properties. It can add moisture to the skin, but in a long run, it might dehydrate the skin as well. In haircare, Sea Water can be helpful for wavy and curly hair. Sodium Hyaluronate is a salt form of a popular Natural Moisturizing Factor - Hyaluronic Acid. Calcium Hydroxide is a buffering ingredient - it balances the level of pH of the product. Ethylhexyl Palmitate is an emollient. Caprylyl Glycol is a moisturizer and an oily emollient. It leaves a delicate, protective film on your skin. But that's not all, Caprylyl Glycol is useful when you want to keep your product free from unfriendly stuff like microbes. Aluminum Hydroxide is an emollient, but it can be used as a colourant or... a tiny help for your sunscreen. Aluminum Hydroxide is a coating for Titanium Dioxide. Stearic Acid is an emollient that you can love or hate. The problem is that not every skin likes it - mine usually breaks out when you show it Stearic Acid. Have you ever seen a thickener made out of hectorite - a white clay? Meet Disteardimonium Hectorite - it works as a stabilizer, gives your skin a sheer look, and in sunscreen formulas, it makes your UV protection even better. Dimethicone/PEG-10/15 Crosspolymer is an emulsifier. Saccharide Isomerate is a moisturizer derived from vegetables. This humectant can soothe skin irritation and boosts the skin barrier. Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer is a powder that absorbs sebum. You can usually find it in makeup for its flawless finishing. Sodium Chloride is a regular salt that you know from the kitchen. What does it do? It's a thickener, but it's also an exfoliant. Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine is an ingredient that gained popularity lately. You might hear of it as Tinosorb S. It's a sunscreen agent that covers a larger range of UV radiation than other ingredients. Tinosorb S protects you from UVA and UVB radiation, which makes it an ideal sun protector. It's a stable ingredient so it doesn't need any additional substance, but you won't see it in the US. It's quite a new ingredient, but it is considered to be one of the safest sunscreen agents.

Acrylates/C12-22 Alkyl Methacrylate Copolymer creates a film on the skin to make the product more waterproof. Decyl Glucoside is a delicate surfactant. Propylene Carbonate is a solvent. Sodium Citrate regulates pH, we call substances like this a buffer. Ethylhexylglycerin is a preservative with subtle moisturizing and antimicrobial properties. Arginine is an amino acid. It helps with protein biosynthesis in adults. According to research from 1964, a lack of arginine might raise your chance of getting an HSV infection. Polyperfluoromethylisopropyl Ether is an anticaking agent. Coco-Glucoside is a surfactant. You can love or hate Propylene Glycol. It's alcohol, but not every alcohol is bad. Organic skincare companies usually are against it, while in fact, Propylene Glycol helps with transferring active ingredients through the skin, it's also a good moisturizer and solvent. Xanthan Gum is a thickener and stabilizer which you can find in food and skincare. Disodium Lauryl Sulfosuccinate is a surfactant. Citric Acid is an AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) - a delicate exfoliant and a buffering ingredient. It adjusts the pH of the formula. Sodium Citrate neutralizes metal ions, but it also modifies the pH. Silica Dimethyl Silylate is an emollient. Hexylene Glycol is a water-soluble solvent and surfactant. It has emulsifying properties. Phenoxyethanol is a preservative that we shouldn't be afraid of. There are strict norms for this substance in our beauty products. Dipropylene Glycol is a solvent with moisturizing properties. Fragrance (Parfum) is a scent composition. It can cause allergic reactions.

Dr Irena Eris Clinic Way Moisturising BB Cream SPF 50

First impression of Dr Irena Eris Clinic Way Moisturising BB Cream SPF 50

I told you before that Dr Irena Eris Clinic Way Moisturising BB Cream SPF 50 was recommended to me before. It's not that I'm not a fan of local brands, because the skincare and beauty market in Poland grew a lot - especially the natural beauty market. Why I didn't get this BB Cream was the shade - there's no choice in colours if it comes to Dr Irena Eris Clinic Way Moisturising BB Cream SPF 50 maybe because it's a cream which you can find in the skincare line, not makeup line. Yes, Dr Irena Eris has a makeup line and the BB Cream from that line has a bigger shade choice which is still too dark for me - the magic of being super pale. If your skin is pale but you tan a bit during summer - you might actually enjoy this product. It's another product that my mom enjoys - it matches her skin, it gives nice, natural finishing and it's not a heavy coverage cream which I appreciate (just don't do this to yourself - heavy coverage doesn't really look good, I got acne as well and I'm trying to use medium or light coverage products since they work better than heavy and cakey makeup). Similar to cream, Dr Irena Eris Clinic Way Moisturising BB Cream SPF 50 contains Aqua Calcis. The PAO date is 6 months.

Where to buy Dr Irena Eris's products?

All prices are in Euro, Dr Irena Eris Clinic Way Regenerating-Moisturising Night Cream costs €33/50ml and Dr Irena Eris Clinic Way Moisturising BB Cream SPF 50 costs €22/30ml. Yes, Dr Irena Eris is a luxury brand, but prices are pretty good. I'm not sure if this promo code works for international customers, but you can try using code trnd20 for -20% off on the Clinic Way series (valid until May 8th).
