Heimish All Clean Balm Mandarin

Do you know that your skin after cleansing needs to balance the pH and lock the moisture inside? That's why it's so important to use a toner right after cleansing. Heimish released lately two new products - Heimish All Clean Balm Mandarin and Heimish All Clean Green Pore Toner Pads. Today we will learn how to take care of your pores from the basics!

Why cleansing is an important step of pore care?

When we talk about acne-prone skin, we usually forget to focus on the main problem - pores. Pores are like canals for the skin that helps in breathing. They contain hair follicles and sebaceous glands (oil glands). Everyone has pores on their skin, but because of genetics, some of us have bigger pores, and some have smaller ones. If you're an owner of acne-prone skin, you're more likely to have enlarged pores. Sadly, pores can't shrink, but we can make them less visible if we choose the right skincare treatment. Pores can clog, and if we don't take the right care of our pores, we might have to deal with the consequences since clogged pores can lead to acne. Pore care is an important part of skincare. When I was a teenager, I remember that many girls used alcohol-based solutions because their sebaceous glands produced too much oil. Many people didn't know that using drying solutions like alcohol-based toners is making this situation worse, since alcohol is harsh on the skin. Alcohol indeed is drying for the skin, but when you remove natural sebum with oil, your skin gets a message to produce more sebum to protect your skin barrier. Since pores can't shrink it doesn't mean that we can't change them at all - proper cleansing and great toning products with the right ingredients can make pores appear smaller than they are!

Heimish All Clean Balm Mandarin and Heimish All Clean Green Pore Toner Pads are two of the newest Heimish products, and today I want to focus on them.

Heimish All Clean Balm Mandarin

About Heimish

Heimish is quite a young brand. The brand's history started in 2016. I'm surprised how much the brand grew in just three years. Right now Heimish offers moisturizers, masks, eye palettes, lip products, eye patches and more. Still, the brand is most known for its cleansing line. Lately, the brand upgraded its cult All Clean Balm and released a Mandarin version.

Heimish All Clean Balm Mandarin

Heimish is well-known for its All Clean line, I tried All Clean Balm and Heimish All Clean Green Foam before, if you're interested in the classic version of this balm cleanser - you can visit my old post.

Heimish All Clean Balm Mandarin - Packaging

I love the mix of pink and rose gold with some greens on the old packaging, but Heimish All Clean Balm Mandarin has all these citrus details that got my heart! Besides the design, everything else is the same - a white jar with a lid inside where you can leave a spatula. I believe this is a clever design, and that's something I love in Heimish since they know how to put a spatula in a jar to not lose it.

Heimish All Clean Balm Mandarin - Texture & Scent

I kinda liked the original All Clean Balm scent, but Heimish All Clean Balm Mandarin smells like citrus mixed with herbs. There's nothing better than this combination! The old version has one problem - with time the scent got annoying, but this is not a problem in the Mandarin version for me. The texture is like wax, but I don't mean wax which you use to remove hair but more like beeswax or lanolin. It's like plasticine with an oily residue. When you add a bit of water, the texture will turn into milk. The scent reminds me of herbs.

Heimish All Clean Balm Mandarin - Ingredients

Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, PEG-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate, Synthetic Wax, PEG-8 Isostearate, Citrus Unshiu Fruit Oil, Citrus Junos Fruit Oil, Citrus Reticulata (Tangerine) Fruit Extract (0,01 ppm), 1,2-Hexanediol, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Artemisia Vulgaris Oil, Citrus Aurantium Amara (Bitter Orange) Leaf/Twig Oil, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Litsea Cubeba Fruit Oil, Laurus Nobilis Leaf Extract, Melia Azadirachta Flower Extract, Moringa Oleifera Seed Oil, Melia Azadirachta Leaf Extract, Eclipta Prostrata Extract, Glycerin, Corallina Officinalis Extract, Melia Azadirachta Bark Extract, Ocimum Sanctum Leaf Extract, Water, Oleyl Alcohol, Octyldodecanol, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Ceramide NP, Butylene Glycol, Phytosphingosine, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Candida Bombicola/Glucose/Methyl Rapeseedate Ferment, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Sterols, Tocopherol, Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Fruit Extract

Ethylhexyl Palmitate is an emollient and the source of this ingredient can be palm oil. Cetyl Ethylhexanoate is an emollient that leaves a velvet layer on the surface of the skin. It appears in cleansing products, and it makes brushing and detangling your hair easier. PEG-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate is an emollient and emulsifier. Synthetic Wax is an oily emollient. Citrus Unshiu Fruit Oil or Satsuma Oil is a source of vitamin C. Citrus Reticulata (Tangerine) Fruit Extract (0,01 ppm) is an antioxidant, and a source of vitamin C. 1,2-Hexanediol is a synthetic solvent and preservative - it protects products from microorganisms by boosting other preservatives. At the same time, it can moisturize the skin, and it has no unpleasant effects on your epidermis. Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone is an emulsifier. Artemisia Vulgaris Oil adds a herbal scent to the product. Citrus Aurantium Amara (Bitter Orange) Leaf/Twig Oil is an essential oil. Turmeric in products for acne skin is not a surprise for me, but what does Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract do in other products? Turmeric has wide use in traditional medicine - not only in Ayurveda but Chinese Traditional Medicine. It's an antioxidant with anti-inflammatory properties, that's why it works so good on acne. It might help with pigmentation, but if you have post-acne inflammation, then using soothing ingredients and substances that speed up wound healing helps with the redness left after acne. Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil is an essential oil which you might love or hate. It has some relaxing and antibacterial properties, but it can irritate your skin. Tocopheryl Acetate is a form of Vitamin E, Tocopherol. It's an antioxidant that helps with skin & hair hydration and prevents TEWL (transepidermal water loss). This ester form of Tocopherol is more stable, but it's not as effective. Some people consider it a preservative, but Vitamin E should be used as a preservative. It's good to mix it with Vitamin C and Ferulic Acid.

Heimish All Clean Balm Mandarin

Litsea Cubeba Fruit Oil is an essential oil with antiseptic properties. Melia Azadirachta (Neem) Flower Extract - you probably know Melia Azadirachta as Neem or Chinaberry. It's a flower extract of a plant typical for India, Sri Lanka or Pakistan. Neem comes from Ayurveda, and in this case, it's a pigment. Moringa Oleifera Seed Oil is an emollient. Melia Azadirachta Leaf Extract is told to have antiseptic, antibacterial and antifungal properties. Eclipta Prostrata Leaf Extract is a nourishing ingredient. Eclipta Prostrata or False Daisy is a plant used in traditional medicine. Glycerin or Glycerol is a humectant. Its origin can be natural or synthetic - depending on the product. It protects TEWL (transepidermal water loss) and naturally occurs in the skin. It's one of the NMFs - natural moisturizing factors. It's practical in hair care. Glycerin won't clog your skin or irritate it just the opposite - it protects your skin from irritation. Corallina Officinalis Extract is a red algae extract. It soothes the skin, it's also an antioxidant. Ocimum Sanctum Leaf Extract aka Holy Basil is a source of eugenol, linalool, rosmarinic acid, oleanolic acid, ursolic acid, rosmarinic acid and more. It's another ingredient used in traditional medicine. In skincare products, Holy Basil has anti-inflammatory effects. Water hides in a cosmetic products under names such as Aqua or Eau. It's a solvent, but it's not your regular drinking water. Water in skin care needs to fit some standards. It should be clean and free from minerals, microorganisms or other substances. Usually, water makes up the majority of the content of the product. Oleyl Alcohol is an oily emollient. Octyldodecanol is an emulsifier.

Heimish All Clean Balm Mandarin

Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter is a butter obtained from seeds of the Vitellaria paradoxa tree - a tree typical for Africa. It's an emollient rich in antioxidants like vitamin E or vitamin A. It's a source of oleic acid, stearic acid and linoleic acid. Shea butter is a well-moisturizing emollient that leaves a fine film on the skin and hair to protect from dehydration. It has soothing properties, and it might provide sun protection around SPF 2-4 (still, use proper sun-protecting agents instead of oils and butter for your safety). This ingredient is an excellent choice for dry skin and psoriasis. Shea butter hydrates hair and helps them look shinier. It's good to choose certified shea butter from a trusted source. Ceramides naturally occur in the skin - it's like cement in the skin. Ceramide NP strengthens the skin barrier to prevent dehydration. Butylene Glycol is a common ingredient in products. It's not only a solvent. We use butylene glycol because it helps with the penetration of active ingredients, protects products from drying and moisturizes skin and hair. This ingredient can prevent hair loss and make your hair stronger. Phytosphingosine is a lipid that naturally occurs in human skin. It has antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. Phytosphingosine can be helpful for acne-prone skin, sensitive skin and rosacea. It might help you get rid of statics in your hair. Hydrogenated Lecithin is a version of lecithin. It works as an emollient in the formulas.

Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract is an emollient. Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract is an antioxidant - it fights free radicals and fixes the damage. Green tea is a source of many positive skin substances such as catechins (EGCG, EGC, EC, CG), flavonoids, amino acids, vitamin C, and minerals. It works for all skin types. Since it has antibacterial properties, many products for young, acne-prone skin contain this ingredient. It has soothing properties, and it's good to use it along with sunscreen to boost the protection of your skin. Glycine Soja (Soybean) Sterols are an emollient. Tocopherol is an antioxidant known as Vitamin E. It's an oil-soluble vitamin that fights free radicals and makes UVB protection and natural lipid barrier stronger. It's good to mix it with vitamin C for better effects. Oily skin might react with pore-clogging to vitamin E. It is not true that vitamin E works as a preservative or helps with scars. Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Fruit Extract is a source of flavonoids and an antioxidant.

Heimish All Clean Balm Mandarin

How does Heimish All Clean Balm Mandarin work?

I'm not new to cleansing balms. I even prefer them over cleansing oils since you can easily travel with them. I usually prefer to choose smaller versions for travelling, but Heimish All Clean Balm Mandarin is more compact than cleansing oils. I'm pretty sure Heimish has never released cleansing oil. The All Clean Balm original version is another cult cleanser, right next to Banila Co cleansers. The new version of Heimish All Clean Balm Mandarin is not very different. We have the same mousse waxy texture, but the scent is even better than in the original version. It removes makeup easily, but you have to use it on its own first and then add water to emulsify the cleanser. It doesn't leave any fog in my eyes which is a benefit for me. I can't say anything bad about it. I enjoy it more than the previous version.

Heimish All Clean Green Pore Toner Pads

Heimish All Clean Green Pore Toner Pads - Texture & Scent

Heimish All Clean Green Pore Toner Pads are soft and big. They smell like Witch Hazel, but the scent is mild.

Butylene Glycol is a common ingredient in products. It's not only a solvent. We use butylene glycol because it helps with the penetration of active ingredients, protects products from drying and moisturizes skin and hair. This ingredient can prevent hair loss and make your hair stronger. Hydroxyacetophenone is an antioxidant that is supposed to help preservatives in the formula. Chlorella Vulgaris Extract is a humectant. Glucose is a monosaccharide - a simple sugar, and we all know that sugars in skincare are nothing else than humectants. Allantoin is an ingredient that naturally occurs in our bodies, but brands usually go for the synthetic form of this substance. It comes from comfrey or soybean roots. It's a humectant with soothing and wound-healing properties. Fructooligosaccharides are an ingredient which I didn't assume it's a thing in skincare. Fructooligosaccharides are a moisturizing prebiotic. Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate is an emulsifier. Propanediol is also known as natural glycol - an alternative to propylene glycol. Propanediol is a solvent with additional moisturizing properties. It makes the product smooth to the touch. It can even improve the effectiveness of active ingredients. Caprylyl Glycol is an oily emollient and humectant. It leaves a moisturizing film on the surface of the skin.

Ethylhexylglycerin is a preservative with subtle moisturizing and antimicrobial properties. Sodium Citrate neutralizes metal ions, but it also adjusts the pH. Xanthan Gum is a polysaccharide that works as a thickener. 1,2-Hexanediol is a synthetic solvent and preservative - it protects products from microorganisms by boosting other preservatives. At the same time, it can moisturize the skin, and it has no unpleasant effects on your epidermis. Pentylene Glycol is mostly a solvent and stabilizer, but it has great moisturizing properties. Citric acid is an AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) - a delicate exfoliant and a buffering ingredient. It adjusts the pH of the formula. Sodium Phytate is a chelating agent derived from corn. It neutralizes the ions in the products to make sure your product stays a fresh bit longer. Artemisia Vulgaris Oil adds a herbal scent to the product. Citrus Aurantium Amara (Bitter Orange) Leaf/Twig Oil is an essential oil. Sodium Hyaluronate or sodium salt of hyaluronic acid. It's a form of hyaluronic acid and naturally occurs in the skin. Sodium Hyaluronate has strong water-binding properties. Sodium hyaluronate combined with elastin and collagen is like a scaffolding for the skin. It has hydrating properties and leaves a hydrating film on the skin, but sodium hyaluronate prevents skincare products from drying. Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil is an essential oil which you might love or hate. It has some relaxing and antibacterial properties, but it can irritate your skin. Litsea Cubeba Fruit Oil is an essential oil with antiseptic properties.

Althaea Rosea Flower Extract or Common Hollyhock Flower Extract is supposed to moisturize and soothe the skin. In herbal medicine, this plant is considered to be an emollient with soothing properties. Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer as the name says is related to Sodium Hyaluronate. It's a strong water-binding moisturizer, it hydrates your skin and prevents TEWL. Gluconolactone is a poly-hydroxy acid (PHA) and a gentler cousin of AHA. Brands mostly appreciate this ingredient for its subtle exfoliating properties. It's an ideal exfoliant for sensitive skin. Additionally, Gluconolactone has moisturizing properties, and if you use it for longer, you might see differences in wrinkles. There is also information that Gluconolactone might be a potent antioxidant. In hair care, Gluconolactone helps with the scalp, but also adds moisture to the hair. Centella Asiatica Leaf Extract is an extract obtained from the leaf of Centella Asiatica. One of the most admired ingredients in skincare lately. Centella Asiatica comes under many names - Tiger Grass, Gotu Kola or Asiatic Pennyworth. Centella has many positive skin properties like a speeding-up healing process and anti-inflammatory properties. It's an ingredient worth a try. Hordeum Distichon (Barley) Extract is a barley extract, it moisturizes and strengthens the skin. Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract has anti-inflammatory properties. Nelumbo Nucifera Leaf Extract has anti-inflammatory and brightening properties. Saccharomyces Ferment is a product of Saccharomyces fermentation. It's a source of many amino acids and beta-glucan. This ingredient helps with the moisture of the skin.

Heimish All Clean Green Pore Toner Pads

How do Heimish All Clean Green Pore Toner Pads work?

When I started studying cosmetology, we were always told "cleansing first, toner second". Toner is an important part, I barely ever choose pads but heimish pads are huge! It's a low pH 5.5 toner which means you can safely use it on acne-prone skin. 80mm pad is a bit too big for my face to use as a toner mask, but some people will enjoy this size. It has no scent. Witch Hazel helps take additional care of blemishes and pores. The pads are soft and shouldn't irritate the skin. It has a mild exfoliating effect due to the citric acid in the ingredients. I have to admit I'm not a big fan of toner pads, but there are okay. They are soft, and it's a good way to tone your skin and remove the rest of the makeup after cleansing without being too harsh for the skin.
