A'Pieu Wonder Tension Pact SPF40/PA++ Marymond Edition

Collaborations between different brands aren't so popular in Europe as they are in Korea. This time I'm going to show you a nice collaboration with a long history - even if the story isn't the happiest one but it has quite a good ending. Let me show you A'Pieu Wonder Tension Pact SPF40/PA++ Marymond Edition.

Couple words about brand
A'Pieu is a sister-brand to Missha and it's targetted to clients in their early 20's.

a'pieu wonder tension pact SPF 40/PA++

The story behind this collaboration
The story of Marymond is very interesting, the name of this brand is related to Vincent Van Gogh's painting called "Almond Blossom" - a symbol of new life and hope. The name Marymond is a mix of words Mariposa - a Spanish name for butterfly and Almond - which we can find in the name of Van Gogh's painting. The floral motives of this brand have their own meaning and they are strongly connected to Korean history. Marymond is a brand who helps former comfort women and other women with their recovery. During the II World War lots of women in territories occupied by Japan was forced to sex slavery - it wasn't only Korean women but also women from China, Malaysia or even women from Europe (mostly Netherlands) & Australia. Most of them were lured with a perspective of a well-paid job in a restaurant or factory. For many years after the war, this topic was avoided, lots of women died during the war - rest of them end up with a trauma, PTSD and sexually transmitted diseases. We also have to remember that lots of women were outsiders after a war because premarital sex in many countries was and it still is considered as a shameful thing - no matter if you're a rape victim or not, it's still considered as a shame. What might be strange for people from Europe or even America - it was expected from young women that they'll commit a suicide because in their culture virginity is the most precious thing. The design of Marymond is full of meanings, all the designs were inspired by pressed flower art made by the former comfort women during their therapy sessions.

I must admit that writing this part of the post was really hard for me - not only as a woman but as a human. It's really hard to find words to describe marymond's mission and the history of comfort women. I hope that I didn't make any mistake in this part of the post because I've never heard about comfort women in Asia before and my knowledge about this topic is very poor. If you are interested in learning more about Marymond and the history of comfort women I encourage you to visit Marymond's site, Wikipedia or your local bookstore. There's also a video about this brand which I encourage you to watch.

Packaging
The packaging is really unique - a square box with floral pattern and gold details. The box is also covered in this pattern.

Skin Type
The Perfect Cover version will work better for acne-prone skin, oily skin and combination skin. I do not recommend this product for people with dry skin.

Ingredients
Bambusa Vulgaris Water, Titanium Dioxide, Cyclopentasiloxane, Water, Zinc Oxide, Butylene Glycol, Lauryl PEG-9 Polydimethylsiolxyethanol, Isododecane, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Butylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Methyl Hydrogenated Rosinate, Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, Cetearyl Alcohol, Niacinamide, Glycerin, Dimethicone, Sodium Chloride, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Cyclohexasiloxane, Polymethylsilsequioxane, PEG-10 Dimethicone, PEG/PPG-17/6-Copolymer, Alcohol Denat, Aluminium Hydroxide, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract, Volcanic Ash, Kaolin, Pearl Powder, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Stearic Acid, Silica, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Mica, Xylitol, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Triethyl Citrate, Panthenol D, Hydroxyacetophenone, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Menthoxypropanediol, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Tocopheryl Acetate, Adenosine, Isostearic Acid, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Lecithin, Isopropyl Palmitate, Polyglyceryl-3 Polyricinoleate, Zinc Gluconate, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499, Fragrance

I have to admit that my feelings about this list of ingredients are mixed. As usually, we will find in this product some bad stuff like Lauryl PEG-9 Polydimethylsiolxyethanol, PEG-10 Dimethicone, PEG/PPG-17/6-Copolymer, Phenoxyethanol or Fragrance (a synthetic substance which might be harmful but it might also not be harmful). On the other side, we've got here Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide - both of them are mineral sunscreens. There's also Niacinamide - an ingredient which helps with skin brightening and it can help with pigmentation. Adenosine will help with wrinkles. Butylene Glycol and Glycerin are good moisturisers, Panthenol D - known as pro-vitamin B5 won't only add moisture, it's also a good anti-inflammatory ingredient. Tocopheryl Acetate - a form of Vitamin E is another strong moisturiser and natural preservative. I was surprised with Bambusa Vulgaris Water, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract, Volcanic Ash, Kaolin, Pearl Powder and Portulaca Oleracea Extract. All of them are good natural ingredients. This selection of ingredients has its flaws but in comparison to limited edition foundation of A'pieu's sister Brand - Missha (the review is here), I feel like this combination is better.

Smell & Texture
The smell is not a natural smell but a chemical smell - it reminds me nothing, hopefully, the smell won't haunt us through the day, it disappears quickly. The foundation is creamy, I'm not the fan of this "net" on the top of the refill. I also saw something strange - couple days after the first use I saw the oil on the surface of the refill, I don't know what's going on but it looks strange.

How does it work for me
I'm really surprised how this foundation works on my skin. Obviously, it works better than Missha, but I'm not 100% happy with it - it hides my imperfections like acne and acne scars but you can easily see all the pores on my nose and cheeks - I know that it's an easy thing to fix but for this price I want my foundation to be flawless. Another thing is that this cushion won't stay on my face for more than 6 hours, after 6 hours I need to use a fixing powder or another layer of the foundation. The colour is quite good - that's a positive side of the product, it fits my neutral undertones very well, even if I feel it's more yellow than my skin it still looks quite natural - usually when I use makeup with yellow pigment I'm going to end up like a person with jaundice but this time I looked quite normal. I got the shade #21 - the lightest one.

Additional Information
This product is not suitable for vegans & vegetarians. It's a limited version of Wonder Tension Pact - the same refills are going to fit this case as the one for Wonder Tension Pact. There are only two shades - #21 and #23.

Where to get it?
You can get this product on TesterKorea, YesStyle and Ebay.

Sum up
My feelings about this product are very positive, it learned me some history and that's a plus. The design was nice. I'll probably try to use this product in winter when the weather will be better with a primer. Do I recommend this product? I would say yes, I feel like this product is way better than Missha's cushion and it costs less.

How do you like this product? Do you also know products with interesting histories?

  2. Bardzo ciekawa historia wiąże się z tym produktem, mnie zachwyca on pięknym opakowanie, osobiście nie wybrałabym go ze względu na długi skład - zawsze mnie to przeraża w Azjatyckich kosmetykach

  47. I was quite tempted by the pretty packaging when I first saw this but then I looked into it more and realized it wouldn't work for me since my skin is dry. It's nice that it has worked well for you and is even better than Missha. I always hear mixed reviews on Missha cushions so I haven't tried them yet.

I podkreśla pory...
