First Impression: Benton Papaya D-Sun Cream SPF 38/PA+++

Read in English       Przeczytaj po polsku

Sun protection is important not only in the summer, we have to remember about it for the entire year. It's hard to find an ideal sunscreen. One of the purest brands with the healthiest formulas has decided to release its first sunscreen this year. I had a chance to test it and today I want to show you my review on Benton Papaya D-Sun Cream

Couple words about brand
Benton is a South Korean skincare brand. The name Benton comes from the movie "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button". The main idea of this brand is to make products that improve skin condition without using harsh chemicals. All their formulas are based on natural substances and good ingredients. What's important - Benton produces a smaller amount of their product just to make sure that all their products are fresh.

Packaging
Benton is such a minimalistic brand - this time the packaging is white, on the top of the packaging you can see that this product is original. I like the mix of white and green colour (the shade reminds me of lime), it feels like the scent will be sour like lemon or lime and that this product is related to skin brightening.

Skin Type
This product is recommended for all skin types, including sensitive skin.

Ingredients
Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Water(55%), Titanium Dioxide, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Isoamyl p-Methoxycinnamate, Glycerin, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine, Pentylene Glycol, Niacinamide, Glyceryl Stearate, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, 1,2-Hexanediol, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Aluminum Hydroxide, Panthenol, Carica Papaya Seed Oil(5000ppm), Glyceryl Caprylate, Stearic Acid, Water, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Xanthan Gum, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract(750ppm), Tocopherol, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Xylitylglucoside, Anhydroxylitol, Xylitol, Papain(100ppm), Propanediol, Adenosine, Sodium Gluconate, Disodium Adenosine Triphosphate, Algin, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Bud Extract, Glucose, Juniperus Communis Fruit Oil, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Oil, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Fruit Oil

Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Water - emollient, this fruit water is a very powerful ingredient which can do lots of good stuff to your skin. Papaya Fruit Water makes your skin softer but actually, it also makes your skin more open to other substance. It is told that this substance helps with acne, skin brightening and it protects your skin from dehydration. Titanium Dioxide - mineral sunscreen and a pigment, I have no information if it's in nano or non-nano form. Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate and Isoamyl p-Methoxycinnamate - chemical sunscreens. Glycerin - strong moisturiser, some people believe that Glycerin might be comedogenic but in comedogenic substance ratings, Glycerin is quite low. Dicaprylyl Carbonate - another natural emollient, it moisturises your skin and enhances lipid barrier. Cetearyl Alcohol - an oily emollient, it makes the product smooth in application. It might be comedogenic. Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine - another chemical sunscreen. Pentylene Glycol - humectant, it helps with skin moisture. Niacinamide - a form of vitamin B3 and humectant. It helps with pigmentation, acne and because it's an antioxidant, it can improve wrinkles. Glyceryl Stearate - emollient, it moisturises your skin. C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate - another emollient and a preservative - very effective when it is mixed with chemical or mineral sunscreens. Cetearyl Olivate - moisturiser and skin softener. 1,2-Hexanediol - preservative and humectant. Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil -  an emollient, the structure of Jojoba Seed Oil is very similar to sebum that's why this oil is recommended for every skin type. It's a very nourishing and regenerating ingredient. Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride - an emollient and softener, it helps with product application by making the formula easier to spread on the skin. Aluminum Hydroxide - absorbs sebum and sweat. Panthenol - provitamin B5, humectant and a good moisturiser. This substance is recommended to use after a sunburn. Carica Papaya Seed Oil(5000ppm/0.5%) - oily emollient, full in omega-6 and omega-9 acids, a source of vitamin A and C. Glyceryl Caprylate - oily emollient, protects skin from dehydration. Stearic Acid - an emollient, it can be comedogenic. Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer and Xanthan Gum - thickeners. Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract(750ppm /0.075%) - a source of vitamin A and C, it makes your skin brighter. This ingredient will be great for acne-prone skin because both vitamins are used to treat acne and post-acne pigmentation. Tocopherol - Vitamin E, natural preservative and a good moisturiser. It helps the skin after the sun exposure. Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate - humectant, it helps with skin redness and dehydration. It can help with skin allergy, acne or even eczema. It helps with pigmentation as well. Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil - emollient. Xylitylglucoside and Anhydroxylitol - humectants. Xylitol - a healthy sugar substitute, in skincare it's a humectant. Papain(100ppm/0.01%) - another enzyme which we can find in papaya, it is used as a natural exfoliator but also as a skin brightener. Propanediol - moisturiser, but it can also give a scent to the product. Adenosine - the most powerful anti-ageing ingredient. It helps not only with wrinkles but with pigmentation or even collagen production. Sodium Gluconate - helps with skin irritation. Disodium Adenosine Triphosphate - it helps with collagen production and skin moisture. Algin - amazing humectant, it can be comedogenic. Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Bud Extract - an antioxidant and skin brightener, it helps with skin allergy and skin ageing. Glucose - prevents skin dehydration. Juniperus Communis Fruit Oil - an antiseptic oil, good for acne-prone skin. It's a very powerful ingredient. Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Oil and Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Fruit Oil - that's where the scent of this product comes from.

Couple words from the producer
According to the producer, this sunscreen is recommended for everyone with dull skin, who wants and who needs UVA & UVB protection and who needs a moist sunscreen that doesn't leave a white cast.

Smell & Texture
The smell reminds me of lime, it's a very refreshing scent which might feel like it's too much, but it disappears quite fast. The texture is really good - a very light cream that doesn't leave the white cast - you just have to work with your hand while applying it onto your skin.

How does it work for me?
It's first Benton's sunscreen but instead of focusing only on skin protection they also made a product that brightens the skin - so we get 2 in 1, a UV protection and we're working on the flawless skin at the same time. This process is possible due to lots of good ingredients, including Papaya Fruit Water and Papaya Seed Oil as well as Niacinamide, Adenosine and many other ingredients but the main ingredient that the producer has focused on is Papaya in different forms - honestly, I've never seen a papaya in any other forms in cosmetics than in a form of scrub. The product is very light - I can't feel it on my face, it's not a sticky formula - is a velvet formula that works with foundation and other skincare steps. It's a little bit sad that this cream has only SPF 38 but it's still a high number - we have to remember that even if we use SPF 50 we still have to reapply the sunscreen every 2-3 hours. I had no allergic reactions to this product, I was scared that the smell might be too much for me but it's a very nice smell that I couldn't smell at all after about 40 minutes. I see no redness on my face so it works for me - if you've got an oily/combination skin like me, you know how sunscreens like to mess up your foundation - this one works on oily skin, I even feel like it makes my skin glowy with a healthy and dewy glow but not a sebum glow, it feels like my foundation stays on skin for a long time when I use this Benton sunscreen than when I use my other sunscreen based on alcohol. My skin is moist, I see no dry patches. Do I see anything bad in this product? It's a mix of chemical and mineral sunscreens and as you know I'm not a fan of chemical sunscreens but if you're not scared of chemical sunscreens then this product is worth a try.

Additional Information
This brand has Cruelty-Free "Beauty Without Bunny" PETA Certification and Ecocert Certification.

Where to get it
You can get this Benton Papaya D-Sun Cream on producer's official website (20$/50g), you can also check Benton's site to find trustworthy shops & sellers in your area.

Sum up
This Benton product has shown me that Kbeauty doesn't have to be full of non-cruelty-free products based on chemicals. Even if I'm not a fan of chemical sunscreens, this hybrid is probably the best sunscreen I've tried in last 2 years. My first impressions are very optimistic.

How do you like this sunscreen? Do you know Benton? What's your favourite Benton product?

No i papaja - to mówi samo za siebie :D
