Mise-en-scene Perfect Coco Water Serum

Korean hair care is not as popular as skincare, but there's one brand I'm sure you heard about before: mise-en-scene! This brand is a must-have if you're new to k-haircare. My love for this brand started with mise-en-scene Perfect Coco Water Serum. Lately, mise-en-scene had some rebranding so we will talk a bit about which mise-en-scene serum you should choose for your hair.

Mise-en-scene Perfect Coco Water Serum

What's hair serum, and do I need it?

Some time ago I made a post about Korean Hair Care based on articles found on the internet. The serum is not a must, but I feel like adding a serum to your hair care can give you lots of benefits. Serums are way lighter than oils even if many serums contain oils, and mise-en-scene Perfect Coco Water Serum is not an exception. We usually apply the serum on wet or dry hair.

About mise-en-scene

Mise-en-scène is a name which reminds me of school since Mise-en-scène was a term which I learned during some polish classes, but this name comes from the French language. In French, Mise-en-scène means "placing on stage" or according to the Amore Pacific website "directing". Yes, mise-en-scene is another brand that belongs to Amore Pacific. The choice of the name is not an accident since mise-en-scene believes hair is an important part of your image. The brand motto is "change your hair, change your life", and it's a clever name since many of us usually change hair style after break up or some stage in our lives. The brand was launched in the year 2000. You probably saw this brand before - especially if you're a fan of Blackpink. It's not a surprise since Blackpink members - Jisoo, Jennie, Rose and Lisa are the brand's ambassadors. Mise-en-scene is mostly known for its perfect serum.

Mise-en-scene Perfect Coco Water Serum - Packaging

Mise-en-scene Perfect Coco Water Serum might not look very professional since coco water serum comes in a bottle before rebranding. I ordered it from Olive Young and it came in plastic packaging. Inside you can see a plastic bottle with Mise-en-scene Perfect Coco Water Serum. The cap is a bit annoying, and I wasted some product, but besides that, it's a compact serum. The bottle contains only 80ml of the product.

Mise-en-scene Perfect Coco Water Serum - Texture & Scent

Mise-en-scene Perfect Coco Water Serum is a liquid serum, but not as liquid as water. I would say it's an oily serum similar to facial serums and oils, but more lightweight than oil. It has a transparent colour and coconut smell. Be careful with the amount since too much formula at one go can make your hair a bit heavy.

Mise-en-scene Perfect Coco Water Serum

Mise-en-scene Perfect Coco Water Serum - Ingredients

Cyclopentasiloxane, Trisiloxane, Dimethiconol, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil(18,000ppm), Fragrance, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Sclerocarya Birrea Seed Oil, Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Glycolipids

Cyclopentasiloxane is a dry emollient and volatile silicone. It has a bad reputation since people nowadays are scared of silicones. Don't be scared, Cyclopentasiloxane doesn't leave a heavy film on the skin since volatile silicones are evaporating after touching your skin. They help with the application process of the product. If you want your skin or hair to have a silky feeling - go for this one. It's a lightweight substance that won't cause you acne. Trisiloxane is a volatile silicone. It evaporates almost right after application, and its main task is to make the product easier to spread. Dimethiconol is a silicone polymer. It works as an emollient and moisturizer. Dimethiconol leaves a film on the skin, it makes your skin soft. In hair care, this ingredient is amazing for damaged hair since it makes them more smooth. C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate is an emollient with antimicrobial properties. Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil (18,000ppm) is an oily emollient, and a source of fatty acids like lauric acid, myristic acid or palmitic acid. It leaves a film on the surface of the skin. It works better on dry skin than on acne-prone skin. In hair care, coconut oil protects hair from water loss, and prevents damage and split ends. Coconut oil has very weak UV protection properties, but it doesn't mean that you can use it instead of sunscreen. Fragrance (Parfum) is a scent composition. It can cause allergic reactions. Coco-Caprylate/Caprate is an oily emollient derived from coconut. Some people call this amazing emollient, a "natural silicone". It leaves a silky, moisturizing film on the surface of the skin.

Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil is sometimes called "a gold of Morocco", this oil is super popular in skincare. It's an oily emollient, full of oleic acid. It's not the best choice for acne-prone skin, but sensitive and mature skin types enjoy it a lot. It helps to revitalize the skin, that's why you might see it recommended for scars or stretch marks. Argan oil is a wonderful ingredient for hair - it hydrates and nourishes the hair. Even if Argan oil is popular, we should remember that it won't make miracles. Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil is a source of fatty acids like oleic acid and linoleic acid as well as vitamin E. It's an emollient that leaves a protective film on the surface of the skin and hair. Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil is an oil which you probably know well from your kitchen. Olive Oil in cosmetics works as an emollient. It's a source of many antioxidants and vitamins such as vitamins A, and E and fatty acids like oleic acid. It has nourishing properties. Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil is an emollient and a source of vitamin E. The structure of jojoba oil is very similar to human sebum, that's why all skin types shouldn't be scared of this oil. It creates a delicate, non-oily film barrier on the surface of the skin. It helps to restore your hydrolipid barrier. Jojoba oil can be applied straight onto the skin. In hair care, jojoba oil makes hair stronger and hydrated. PS. Jojoba oil isn't an oil, but a waxy ester. Sclerocarya Birrea Seed Oil might sound unknown, but it's another name for marula oil. Marula oil is a source of fatty acids like oleic acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid and linoleic acid. It's an emollient rich in an antioxidant - vitamin E. This ingredient is great for sensitive skin, and dry skin and can be good on scars. This oil is good for hair as well. Camellia Japonica Seed Oil or Tsubaki oil. It's a source of vitamins A and E and omega acids. Camellia Japonica Seed Oil is great for dry skin and hair. Camellia Japonica Seed Oil might help with split ends.

Mise-en-scene Perfect Coco Water Serum

How does Mise-en-scene Perfect Coco Water Serum work?

Let's be honest, if it wasn't the fact that I have dyed hair and going back to my current hair colour after dying them with mise-en-scene hello bubble dye - I would test hello bubble for you. Sadly, my experience with Korean hair toners isn't that good. I can only thank The Face Shop for lavender hair toner since it made me find a great hairdresser, but since then I'm not experimenting (unless we talk about purple hair shampoos and toners). Don't get me wrong, I already ordered purple shampoo from mise-en-scene to test it for you, but hair dye - no way!

Before we start, I should make you aware that my hair type is low porosity hair, 1 a or b I believe since my hair is not very likely to curl. Some people even believe I chemically straightened my hair which is not true - I was just born with straight hair. If you don't know your hair porosity type, there's one easy test. You need a cup of water and one hair put the hair in the cup with water and check if it is after 5 minutes. If your hair is floating on the water then you've got low porosity hair, if you're hair is on the bottom - high porosity hair. If your hair is stuck in the middle then you've got medium porosity hair. Each porosity type has different needs.

Mise-en-scene Perfect Coco Water Serum

For a long time, I didn't trust Korean hair products because I was born in Europe, and I always heard how different are European/Slavic hair than Asian hair. Somehow, my parents love Kerasys shampoo, and it's. one of the best shampoos we tried. I thought why not give Mise-en-scene Perfect Coco Water Serum a try? I've decided to choose this one because I believe it was a limited edition, and I know my hair quite enjoys coconut and avocado oils.

I always apply Mise-en-scene Perfect Coco Water Serum on dry hair. I dry my hair with a hair dryer. My hair just won't dry on its own, and sometimes it's safer to dry your hair than let them dry on its own. The only thing you should remember - use protective products, and you might want to use a low setting at least at the end or cold air dry to prevent frizzy hair. The next step is serum - I apply one pump on my hand, and then I put it all over the ends. I never use it on a scalp because this serum contains oils, and my scalp is already oily.

My hair is always soft and shiny after every use. I got bleached blonde hair, and to keep the shade I use lots of purple shampoos. The problem with purple shampoos is that they make your hair dry, so Mise-en-scene Perfect Coco Water Serum is a real help in my everyday skincare routine. Even if I wake up the next day, instead of washing my hair once again, I just use the serum on the ends to make them look healthy. One of the biggest pluses of this product is that it's not an oil but a serum so it doesn't make your hair oily, and the smell is so wonderful! I don't know why, but Korean haircare products usually have amazing scents. I'm not joking - they have shampoos with top, middle and base scent notes like perfumes! Mise-en-scene serums are affordable, and I recommend them even if Mise-en-scene Perfect Coco Water Serum which I tested today is not available anymore (still you can find it on some websites).

The effects on the photos might not be as visible as in real life or on more damaged hair.

Mise-en-scene Perfect Coco Water Serum

Which Mise-en-scene serum should I buy instead of Mise-en-scene Perfect Coco Water Serum?

Mise-en-scene Perfect Serum Original*

Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethiconol, Disiloxane, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Fragrance, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Limonene, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Sclerocarya Birrea Seed Oil, Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Linalool, Citronellol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Geraniol, Capsicum Annuum Extract, Beta-carotene, Tocopherol, Glycolipids

If you see the ingredients, Mise-en-scene Perfect Serum Original is very similar to Mise-en-scene Perfect Coco Water Serum. The original version is the most common version you can find.

Mise-en-scene Perfect Serum Styling*

Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethiconol, Disiloxane, Isododecane, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Fragrance, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Linalool, Benzyl Benzoate, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Citronellol, Geraniol, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Coumarin, Hexyl Cinnamal, Hydroxycitronellal, Glycolipids, Sclerocarya Birrea Seed Oil

Mise-en-scene Perfect Serum Styling has a more intensive scent, and even people with curly hair recommend this one. I wouldn't use it as hair protection before drying or styling your hair, but it should be a nice serum before you brush or style your hair without using temperature.

Mise-en-scene Perfect Serum Super Rich*

Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethiconol, Disiloxane, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Fragrance, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Hexyl Cinnamal, Benzyl Salicylate, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Limonene, Citronellol, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Capsicum Annuum Extract, Beta-carotene, Glycolipids, Tocopherol, Sclerocarya Birrea Seed Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate

A serum with a floral scent is recommended for damaged hair. I feel like this serum might be a good choice for me since my hair is bleached, but I believe if your hair is super dry it should work for you as well.

Mise-en-scene Perfect Serum Watery*

Cyclopentasiloxane, Trisiloxane, Dimethiconol, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Fragrance, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Limonene, Hydroxycitronellal, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Sclerocarya Birrea Seed Oil, Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Citronellol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Linalool, Geraniol, Glycolipids

It's not a mistake! This serum has a grey colour and no, it's not a special serum for grey hair. It's a fast-absorbed serum with a citrus scent. I feel like it's another version of Mise-en-scene Perfect Coco Water Serum, but the scent is different.

Mise-en-scene Perfect Coco Water Serum

Where to buy Mise-en-scene Perfect Coco Water Serum, and how much does it cost?

I got my Mise-en-scene Perfect Coco Water Serum from Olive Young, but as you already heard Mise-en-scene Perfect Coco Water Serum is no longer sold. Mise-en-scene had a rebranding, and currently, we can choose between four different versions: Mise-en-scene Perfect Serum Original, Mise-en-scene Perfect Serum Styling, Mise-en-scene Perfect Serum Super Rich and Mise-en-scene Perfect Serum Watery*. The regular price for 80ml of these serums on Olive Young is $20. Right now you can get Mise-en-scene Perfect Serum Original*, Mise-en-scene Perfect Serum Super Rich* and Mise-en-scene Perfect Serum Styling* for $11.33.

Mise-en-scene Perfect Serum Original* has also a set version - 80ml + 2x30ml which gives us a total of 140ml of Mise-en-scene Perfect Serum Original costs $22.53. You can also get a 200ml version of Mise-en-scene Perfect Serum Original* for $23.33 - the regular price of the 200ml version is $40. You can use my code BETWEEND0 to get 5% off on your purchase at Olive Young*.

Overall, Mise-en-scene Perfect Coco Water Serum was a big surprise for me, and I enjoyed using it. I'm sure that once I end my bottle, I'll get another one but this time I might go with the Watery version or Super Rich version.

Have you ever tried mise-en-scene before?
