Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Sunscreen and Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Pure Mineral Relief Daily Sunscreen

Sunscreen season is here and Haruharu Wonder has a solution for both - fans of chemical and mineral sunscreens. Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Sunscreen and Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Pure Mineral Relief Daily Sunscreen are two new products from the brand. Are these your next favourite sunscreens?

What's UV?

UV stands for Ultraviolet, it's nothing else than the selected range of frequencies of the electromagnetic spectrum. UV rays are not visible to humans but it doesn't mean that they don't exist. Each type of UV - UVA, UVB and UVC has different wavelengths and different properties.

UVA, UVB and UVC - what does each of them do and where you can meet them?

I'm sure you know about UVA and UVB but UVC or the difference between UVA2 and UVA1? Let's start from the shortest wavelengths - UVC (100nm - 280nm) exist in space and it's absorbed by the ozone layer, it can kill bacteria that's why on Earth you can find it in germicidal lamps - you might ask me, but these lamps are usually visible to a human - it's because they are made in a way that makes them safe for you and other people - you shouldn't enter the room when the UV lamp is on and make people aware that the lamp is on we add other substances so the lamp has a blue/purple colour when it's on. This technology is used for example at labs and hospitals. We all remember UVB (280nm –315nm) because it is told that B in UVB stands for BURN. Indeed, this UV length is responsible for sunburns, but it also helps with the synthesis of Vitamin D - a vitamin which we all need because lack of it can lead to osteoporosis. UVB is focused on the epidermis aka the outer layer of the skin while UVA (315nm –400nm) can penetrate through the epidermis and dermis so it penetrates your skin deeper. A in its name stands for Aging. The bad news is that UVA can penetrate glass, and both UVA and UVB make lots of damage including skin cancer and oxidative stress.

Should I wear sunscreen at home?

We already know that UVA penetrates through the glass so do we need to use sunscreen at home? Yes, especially if you spend lots of time working near the window then it's better to put on a layer of sunscreen in the morning and have any type of protection at home as well. But you can also use window films to reduce the risk. The choice is left to you, what I do is keep my blinds on the window during the entire morning and when the sun is not that intense because my windows are situated on the Eastern side the light usually starts to fade afternoon - usually by afternoon I already have sunscreen on, few times reapplied.

What's the difference between mineral and chemical sunscreen?

It depends on which side we look at this topic. Mineral sunscreens are sunscreens that don't contain any carbon atoms - this automatically makes them inorganic sunscreens. Chemical sunscreens contain carbon atoms, which makes them organic substances. The main difference is that mineral sunscreen usually leaves a white cast, and it's better if we use both Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide for a broad spectrum of UV protection. Chemical sunscreens don't leave a white cast, and they have more sophisticated formulas. Both are amazing, in some cases, PIH (hyperpigmentation), mineral sunscreens, and natural pigments can make a good layer of protection from UV rays.

Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Sunscreen - Packaging

Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Sunscreen has this awesome eco-friendly packaging design. I love how both sunscreens make this sunrise and sunset design. Haruharu decided to focus on details like making the opening easier and adding braille on the packaging to make it more accessible. The tube of Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Sunscreen is an airless packaging to prevent the product from contamination with any bacteria from our fingers. The pump works very well, and the colour scheme is unique. The one thing I need to mention - white text on yellow is not always a good idea, if you go to the room with darker, warmer light - you won't be able to read the text.

Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Sunscreen - Texture & Scent

Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Sunscreen is a non-greasy sunscreen. It has no scent, but usually, sunscreens with no scents have a characteristic of a tiny bit of smell. The texture looks more like a moisturizer, it leaves a delicate, moisturizing film which many sunscreens that contain ceramides this year have.

Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Sunscreen - SPF & PA

Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Sunscreen has SPF50+ and PA++++. It's also supposed to protect the skin from blue light.

Water hides in cosmetic products under names such as Aqua or Eau. It's a solvent, but it's not your regular drinking water. Water in skin care needs to fit some standards. It should be clean and free from minerals, microorganisms or other substances. Usually, water makes up the majority of the content of the product. Dibutyl Adipate is an oily emollient. This oil-soluble ingredient dissolves in oils. It creates a hydrating film on the surface of the skin to prevent the skin from dehydration. You can meet it in sunscreens as a solvent. Propanediol is also known as natural glycol - an alternative to propylene glycol. Propanediol is a solvent with additional moisturizing properties. It makes the product smooth to the touch. It can even improve the effectiveness of active ingredients. Butyloctyl Salicylate is a solvent commonly used in sunscreens. It doesn't only stabilize some sunscreen agents, it also boosts SPF protection. Ethylhexyl Triazone or Uvinul T 150 is a sun-protecting agent. It covers the UVB range (280-320nm). Its peak is at 314 nm. Terephthalylidene Dicamphor Sulfonic Acid is a long name, that's why you probably know this ingredient as Mexoryl SX or ecamsule. Mexoryl SX was patented in 1982 by L'oreal so when we talk about other brands we stick to the name Ecamsule. This sunscreen protects your skin from UVA radiation (315–400 nm) and it has its peak at 345nm. It's a chemical sunscreen with high stability. Glycerin or Glycerol is a humectant. Its origin can be natural or synthetic - depending on the product. It protects TEWL (transepidermal water loss) and naturally occurs in the skin. It's one of the NMFs - natural moisturizing factors. It's practical in hair care. Glycerin won't clog your skin or irritate it just the opposite - it protects your skin from irritation. Niacinamide is a form of vitamin B3 - a vitamin soluble in water. It helps with problems like wrinkles, acne, skin texture, and enlarged pores and promotes collagen synthesis. Niacinamide makes the skin barrier stronger. It might be handy in cellulite treatments. Do you want to fight pigmentation or uneven skin? Try to mix niacinamide with Kojic Acid, Arbutin, Vitamin C, Tranexamic Acid or Retinol. Tromethamine is a synthetic pH adjuster. 1,2-Hexanediol is a synthetic solvent and preservative - it protects products from microorganisms by boosting other preservatives. At the same time, it can moisturize the skin, and it has no unpleasant effects on your epidermis. Pentylene Glycol is mostly a solvent and stabilizer, but it has great moisturizing properties. Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate or Uvinul A Plus is a sun-protecting agent. It covers the UVA range (320-400 nm), and its peak of protection is 354 nm. Cetearyl Alcohol is a fatty alcohol. In the beauty industry, it's an emollient. Many people associate alcohol with something awful for the epidermis, but not every alcohol is nasty. Cetearyl alcohol leaves a moisturizing film on the skin to prevent your skin from transepidermal water loss (TEWL). We use Cetearyl alcohol to create an emulsion. Caprylyl Methicone is an alkylmethyl silicone and emollient. It has a waxy texture, and it makes the product easier to apply. It works great with natural ingredients and pigment. It's a volatile silicone so you don't have to worry - it disappeared almost right after application. Polysilicone-15 might sound like a normal ingredient, but the other name of this ingredient is Parsol SLX. You're right! It's a sun-protecting ingredient. It protects your skin from UVB radiation (290-320 nm) and its peak is around 310 nm. It makes a great pair with Avobenzone. It's quite common in hair care products.

Stellaria Media (Chickweed) Extract brings to the skin many valuable substances - saponins, vitamin C or flavonoids. It strengthens blood vessels in the skin and helps with pore care. It makes skin soft on the touch. Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Flower Extract has soothing properties. Vaccinium Vitis-Idaea (Lingonberry) Fruit Extract is an antioxidant. It's a source of flavonoids and lignans. It can have mild anti-aging properties. Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract is a source of proteins, vitamins like vitamin E and minerals like potassium. It's a rich antioxidant with antiseptic and anti-aging properties. Rice Extract has positive effects on hair. Bellis Perennis (Daisy) Flower Extract is a source of saponnins, quercetin and anthocyanins. It's an antioxidant with firming and soothing properties. Houttuynia Cordata Extract is an ingredient which some people with acne-prone skin love while for me, my experience was not bad but still all hail Centella! Houttuynia Cordata is a plant, which we still use in Traditional Chinese and Japanese Medicine, it's also known as Heart Leaf or Chinese lizard tail. Funny fact about Houttuynia - it's also called Fish Wort, Fish Leaf, etc. because it's an edible plant and it usually leaves a fishy aftertaste. I eat fish a lot, but I'm not a fan of the fishy taste of low-quality matcha (yep, I'm a tea & fish snob) so I don't think I would enjoy it, I'll stay with enjoying Houttuynia magic in skincare. Houttuynia is an antioxidant with anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. It's also a source of quercetin, quercitrin, rutin and hyperin. If your skin is sensitive, you might love it! It speeds up wound healing properties, and it might help with capillaries. Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Oil is an emollient rich in antioxidants and nutritious components. It prevents TEWL (transepidermal water loss). It makes skin soft and less fragile. It works well on hair too. Hydrogenated Lecithin is a version of lecithin. It works as an emollient in the formulas. Polymethylsilsesquioxane is a silicone that protects your skin from dehydration by creating a film on the surface of the skin. Silicones have a positive meaning to your skin - they make products easier to spread, make the formula more elegant and even protect skin and hair. Palmitic Acid is a fatty acid and an oily emollient. It works as an emulsifier. Butylene Glycol is a common ingredient in products. It's not only a solvent. We use butylene glycol because it helps with the penetration of active ingredients, protects products from drying and moisturizes skin and hair. This ingredient can prevent hair loss and make your hair stronger. Stearic Acid is a fatty acid that works as an emollient and emulsifier. Glyceryl Stearate is an emollient with emulsifying properties. Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine is quite a hard name to remember, that's why you can find people talking about this ingredient by calling it Tinosorb S. It's one of the newer types of sunscreen agents and one of the strongest ones. It's a chemical sunscreen that protects skin from UVA (315-400 nm) & UVB (280-315 nm), and its peak is high. It's a stable sunscreen that works with other sun-protecting substances to protect their early photodegradation. Potassium Cetyl Phosphate is a surfactant and emulsifier for oil-in-water formulas. Potassium Cetyl Phosphate is quite common in SPF formulas since it makes sunscreen more water-resistant. Methylpropanediol is a solvent with antimicrobial properties.

Carbomer is a synthetic thickener. Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer is a polymer with thickening properties. Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer is a synthetic polymer and quite a large molecule. It works as a thickener and emulsion stabiliser. Glyceryl Stearate Citrate is a water-in-oil emulsifier. Ethylhexylglycerin is a preservative with subtle moisturizing and antimicrobial properties. Adenosine naturally occurs in the skin. One of the adenosine's roles in our bodies is being a neurotransmitter. In skin care, we use adenosine for its anti-wrinkle properties. Adenosine is an anti-inflammatory ingredient. It can boost collagen production. At the same time, it speeds up the healing process. Adenosine can have positive effects on reducing redness. In hair care, adenosine can help with hair loss. Polyether-1 is a thickener. Myristic Acid is a fatty acid. It works as an emulsifier and cleansing agent. Biosaccharide Gum-1 is a product of sorbitol fermentation. It's a polysaccharide - nothing else than sugar, and sugar in skincare usually has moisturizing properties. Biosaccharide Gum-1 has also calming and soothing properties. You might want to use it with hyaluronic acid for longer and stronger hydration. Tocopherol is an antioxidant known as Vitamin E. It's an oil-soluble vitamin that fights free radicals and makes UVB protection and natural lipid barrier stronger. It's good to mix it with vitamin C for better effects. Oily skin might react with pore-clogging to vitamin E. It is not true that vitamin E works as a preservative or helps with scars. Moringa Oleifera Seed Oil is an emollient rich in oleic acid and vitamin E. It prevents TEWL (transepidermal water loss). Ceramides naturally occur in the skin - it's like cement in the skin. Ceramide NP strengthens the skin barrier to prevent dehydration. Phytosphingosine is a lipid that naturally occurs in human skin. It has antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. Phytosphingosine can be helpful for acne-prone skin, sensitive skin and rosacea. It might help you get rid of statics in your hair. Sodium Chloride is nothing else than well-known salt. In skin care, sodium chloride is a thickener. We also use it as an exfoliant. Disodium Phosphate is a buffering ingredient. Potassium Chloride is a thickener. Potassium Phosphate is a fatty alcohol. It works as an emulsifier and buffering ingredient.

Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Pure Mineral Relief Daily Sunscreen is based on Zinc Oxide so it can have some delicate white tint - you can check my texture videos on Tiktok and Instagram. It should be clean and free from minerals, microorganisms or other substances. Usually, water makes up the majority of the content of the product. Zinc Oxide is mostly known as mineral sunscreen, but this ingredient has other ways of application too. Zinc Oxide protects the skin from UVA I, UVA II and UVB wavelengths. It usually leaves a white tint (unless you use a nano version of zinc oxide, it might leave no white tint or less white tint due to the size of particles). It's also a pigment with antibacterial properties. You can find it in some formulas for acne-prone skin or even get zinc pills as an oral acne treatment (contact your dermatologist first if you think about zinc as a dietary supplement since not everyone tolerates it, and too much zinc is also bad for your health). It also works as a thickener. Cyclohexasiloxane is a volatile silicone and emollient. It makes the product easier to spread on the skin, and it protects the moisture in your skin by creating a gentle, non-greasy film on the surface of your epidermis. Cyclohexasilocane quickly evaporates from your skin. Butyloctyl Salicylate is a solvent commonly used in sunscreens. It doesn't only stabilize some sunscreen agents, it also boosts SPF protection. Propanediol is also known as natural glycol - an alternative to propylene glycol. Propanediol is a solvent with additional moisturizing properties. It makes the product smooth to the touch. It's a volatile silicone so you don't have to worry - it disappears almost right after application. Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer is a synthetic polymer. It absorbs sebum, creates a film on the surface of the skin and makes the texture more elegant. It reflects light and makes wrinkles less visible. It prevents TEWL (transepidermal water loss). It makes skin soft and less fragile. It works well on hair too. Sodium Hyaluronate or sodium salt of hyaluronic acid. It's a form of hyaluronic acid and naturally occurs in the skin. Sodium Hyaluronate has strong water-binding properties. Sodium hyaluronate combined with elastin and collagen is like a scaffolding for the skin. It has hydrating properties and leaves a hydrating film on the skin, but sodium hyaluronate prevents skincare products from drying. Hydrogenated Lecithin is a version of lecithin. It works as an emollient in the formulas. Disteardimonium Hectorite is a thickener related to hectorite clay. It's a thickener. Silicones have a positive meaning to your skin - they make products easier to spread, make the formula more elegant and even protect skin and hair. Lauryl Polyglyceryl-3 Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Dimethicone is water in oil and water in a silicone emulsifier. Glyceryl Caprylate is a natural oily emollient and emulsifier. It creates a delicate film on the surface of the skin. It has some antimicrobial properties. Caprylyl Glycol is an oily emollient and humectant. It leaves a moisturizing film on the surface of the skin. Ethylhexylglycerin is a preservative with subtle moisturizing and antimicrobial properties. Tocopherol is an antioxidant known as Vitamin E. How to do Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Sunscreen and Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Pure Mineral Relief Daily Sunscreen work?

You don't even know how much I wanted to try this duo. I had a plan to buy both Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Sunscreen and Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Pure Mineral Relief Daily Sunscreen, but thanks to Picky I was able to test this duo. I have to start with the fact that at least on YesStyle I found promotional materials for both sunscreens. Both materials said that Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Sunscreen and Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Pure Mineral Relief Daily Sunscreen are free from phthalates, 7 kinds of paraben, 11 harmful ingredients, sulfates, mineral oil, drying alcohol, synthetic dyes and fragrances. As long as I'm happy with no synthetic dyes and fragrances, I'm not a fan of scaring consumers with parabens. You are more likely to get an allergic reaction to plant extract than paraben.

Both sunscreens are cruelty-free and vegan. Both are based on awesome formulas. I love how both products are working well with my skin.

Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Sunscreen and Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Pure Mineral Relief Daily Sunscreen

Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Sunscreen is a chemical sunscreen. I don't find any problem with it. The formula is moisturizing, but I believe even oily skin will enjoy it. Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Sunscreen might not be an as awesome base for makeup as Hamel sunscreen from the last post, but still, the formula of Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Sunscreen is a big surprise. It doesn't leave a white cast (I got pale, cold-toned skin, but if you have warmer or darker skin I would recommend checking reviews of other creators too since sunscreens based on Tinosorbs like to give a bit of greyish tint on warmer skin tones). It works well with makeup, it doesn't pile so that's a big plus. The lack of additional scent ingredients makes me love this sunscreen and the pump is easy to use.

Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Pure Mineral Relief Daily Sunscreen is a mineral sunscreen based on zinc oxide. I feel like lately mineral sunscreens with just zinc oxide are popular. Some people react badly to chemical sunscreens so mineral ones are a great solution for them.

Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Pure Mineral Relief Daily Sunscreen feel less moisturizing than Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Pure Mineral Relief Daily Sunscreen. I find it to be better since it's less dewy and works better with makeup. It doesn't make makeup pile, but it also doesn't make your skin dehydrated. This sunscreen might be a better choice for oily skin. Still, you have to remember that Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Pure Mineral Relief Daily Sunscreen might give a delicate white cast even if it's nano sunscreen because mineral sunscreens usually go along with tint. I needed a tiny bit of time to make it work on my skin (you can check the texture video on my Instagram and Tiktok accounts).

Both sunscreens are manufactured by Kolmar, a manufacturer that stands behind many popular sunscreens. There are even TikTok videos of people choosing their favourite Kolmar sunscreens.

I can't choose if Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Sunscreen or Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Pure Mineral Relief Daily is better, both are awesome. Both are based on different sunscreen agents - Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Sunscreen is a chemical sunscreen while Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Pure Mineral Relief Daily is a product based on mineral sunscreen that is more suitable for sensitive skin.

Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Sunscreen and Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Pure Mineral Relief Daily Sunscreen

Where to buy Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Sunscreen and Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Pure Mineral Relief Daily Sunscreen? How much do they cost?

Overall, Haruharu Wonder surprised me with this duo release. I didn't expect we will see Haruharu Wonder sunscreens, but the brand grew a lot lately.
