Black Friday is coming, but before that, we have another occasion to shop for Kbeauty, Jbeauty, and Cbeauty during Singles' Day. 11.11 became one of the days with lots of exclusive sales. What offers do shops have for skincare, makeup, and haircare lovers?
What's Singles' Day?
Singles' Day came to us from China. I strongly believe that thanks to Aliexpress and Taobao, Singles' Day became popular. I feel like many people can't wait for November 11th because of the sales, while in some countries, November 11th holds different meanings, such as National Independence Day in Poland and Veterans Day in the US. The same day, South Korea celebrates Pepero Day and Japan celebrates Pocky & Pretz Day. I guess you might know Pocky more than Pepero, but both look like a cookie stick covered in chocolate.
Singles' Day is not only a commercial event. I feel like the problem of women and men preferring to be single or start family life later is common around the world. In China, there's a term for single women who didn't get married, and they are in their late 20's or 30's. It's not a nice term since women are being called "leftover women". A few years ago, SK-II, the Japanese skincare brand, made a commercial on this topic. If you're still single - remember, you shouldn't feel bad about not being in a relationship. I know that the pressure is huge, but I'm sure that some of your friends have a pretty similar situation, and it's better to wait than get married and then take a divorce 2 months later. Singles' Day offers One of the most unfair things about being single is that couples usually spend less than a person who's not in a relationship on shopping, culture, living, and dining. Singles' Day might be an ideal day to repair your budget a bit and buy products you've always wanted to choose without spending too much.
Tip for Singles’ Day & Black Friday
How to save money? Some stores are changing prices before the actual Singles’ Day or Black Friday for higher to make them lower so you feel like you pay less even if you pay the actual price. I always make a small shopping list before I buy products during sales. I try to compare shipping prices and prices of items I want to buy to choose the best option. You can always check if Google has a copy of the page from a couple of days ago - this way, you can track the changes in prices.
Set prices to USD
I found this a few years ago and wrote about it on my Instastory: In stores like Stylevana or YesStyle, the difference between USD and EUR or even more local currencies like HUF, PLN, CZK, NOK, UAH, SEK, etc., might be even bigger. So when you shop online, check which currency has the best exchange rate and whether it's worth more to pay in USD rather than your local currency.
